Capital Highlands
Current Month: Julwar 2nd: 209, The Fifth Age
The Capital Highlands is a stretch of grassy hilly terrain along an inland peninsula in The Western Dales. The highlands act as the primary province of the new Barony Luxandria, the city of Lux Donum lies at the northern most cliffs off The Strozahn Water.
The area had formerly been the central domain of The Necromancer, until his defeat at the hands of the The Greater Restorers. Since then, impressions of the highland's barren form has shifted from raw and desolate to regal and tranquil, and the region's ruggedness is regarded fondly by locals and visitors, under the umbrella of the promise of peace and prosperity created by the rapidly growing Luxandrian nation.
Geography
The Capital Highlands lies north of the Iron Mountains, forming the first foothills that eventually become the fang-like peaks of that mountain range.
It comprises most of The Strozahn Water's southern shore, its dark basalt cliffs jutting hundreds of feet out of the water and towering over the azure lake.
To the west of the peninsula is the Lowland Mire and Lesser Blackwold, and to the east is the Koyavi Bog.
Ecosystem
The Capital Highlands north cliffs support a wide range of superb cliff habitats, which are home to seabirds and maritime heath and grassland. In the south, spring squillbirds and Dalish primrose often thrive. Wildcats, grouse, crossbill, red elk, and pine squirrels also call this grassland their home.
There arent many trees on the peninsula, but those few that can be found are usually sparse pine and oak. Long grass, spear thistle, and of course the primrose, are the primary flora found on this peninsula, though other rare herbs and plants can be spotted.
Natural Resources
Along the foothills of the Iron Mountains, a few old mines from the old Melentine Empire can be found, still rich in mineral ore. The peninsula is ripe for farming, cliffside fishing, and hunting, but little else beyond that.
