Drahkai
The mighty drahkai, also called dragonblood, dragonfolk, or demi dragons, are large, powerfully built, humanoids with draconic features. Their heads nearly fully resemble those of a dragon with their eyes, snouts, jaws, and horns. Their bodies are humanoid save for being fully scaled and sometimes having spiked or finned protrusions on their extremities. Their hands and feet are clawed and they have somewhat short, thick tails and they lack the wings of their makers. They are tall, standing well over six feet, and have life cycles similar to humans other than hatching from eggs. Long ago drahkai were made and kept as the original servants of the dragon overlords. It is unclear if they were initially more like modern saurians or some other race or collection of races that were molded to mirror their dragon masters. To this day they speak a simplified, shortened version of the language of their masters, called Lesser Draconic. At some point the Dragon Blessings decided that forced servitude did not befit ones of their station and set their drahkai free. This likely precipitated the wars of liberation for the drahkai of the dragon curses. Eventually the survivors congregated in the Brightgrass Sea under the protection of Ferritrix, where they continue to reside to this day. Bred for war, a strong sense or martial pride was deeply ingrained in their culture. This persists today, but now they fight for themselves and their loved ones rather than their masters’ biddings. Chroniclers point to drahkai liberation as the inspiring event for hobgoblins and darkborn to expatriate as well, with the hobgoblins even joining the drahkai directly. The drahkai have been free for so many generations that they have been normalized as a good and trustworthy race in the collective minds of the other races, another feat the hobgoblins and darkborn seek to mimic.
