Ursarine
One of the largest and most powerful races in any kingdom, but Ursarine are a juxtaposition of patience and fury depending upon the situation. Calling one a mountain dog, bear, or honey thief is a good path to an early grave. Standing seven to eight feet tall with strong bear featured heads and long, raking claws they can be hulking brutes in combat. Their fur is most commonly brown, but can also be black or white, and their eyes are most frequently yellow, blue, or green. Ursarine mature somewhat slower than most beastfolk, not maturing until their late teens, but then can also live to be as old as eighty. They have an intriguing semi solitary tribal society where each member spends the majority of their time alone, but is generally aware of the locations of the others. They will congregate when a hunter makes a kill to dress, cook, and eat the meat, or when an especially large fruit patch is found. On these occasions they communicate in Ursarine, a language of grunts, growls, and grumbles, as well as sounds which seem to be borrowed from Stonespeach and Runic dialects. But they spend most days working, foraging, and hunting alone. In battle they typically favor large, heavy weapons in addition to their natural teeth and claws, preferring to bring down their opponent with a single, powerful stroke. This is not to suggest they cannot engage in a prolonged fight or take a hit, they just possess the strength to typically avoid these confrontations. Most remaining ursarine live in the mountains of the Blasted Wastes, having been driven out of the Morningolds by their hated rivals, the mountainborn. They serve Anderion the Red with the hope of reconquering their older hunting grounds further West.
