Kobolds

In a story very similar to that of the saurians, kobolds were created in response to the drahkai rebellions as well. The red dragon Anderion wanted his minions back, and so took captive drahkai and subjugated them to even harsher conditions, resulting in smaller, weaker creatures incapable of properly fighting back. Kobolds are fairly accurately called goblin lizards for their combination of size and appearance, or worms to mock the “wyrm” moniker of their master. Kobold scales are most commonly red or blue, though can be nearly any color. They have long snouts, short, sharp teeth, and a pair of distinctive horns on their heads. The scales are not especially tough, but their claws are sharp enough to be dangerous. One might question their intelligence, especially when comparing them to goblins, but the little creatures are quite clever. They will dig and craft traps to defend their burrows and construct gadgets like a poor man’s gnome. They speak a complex derivative of their master’s language, called Draconic Vulgate. Also like goblins, kobolds reproduce quickly, laying as many as three clutches of eggs per year. They take about a year to reach full maturity and typically only live into their teens. Old kobolds are essentially never seen. They have a reputation for being cowardly, which is not unfair, but are still deadly warriors when they feel they have an advantage. Small yet mighty may be overstating their abilities, but kobolds are not overlooked by the wary adventurer.
