Black Ocean
The Black Ocean is so named because the sun never shines here. A perpetual deep fog, thick and black almost to the point of being called a dense smoke, clings at all times to the ocean surface. This cloud rises as high as a thousand feet and extends all the way north to the shore, as far south as any ship can sail in a week, and even west until it is aligned with Na'Faish. The waters below are inky black and the currents swirl almost randomly.
This strange weather appears to be steadily growing, but seems repelled or contained by something in the Bright Ocean to the west and by the lighthouse at Domsport.
The ocean is not uninhabited. Those who make their home on the islands to the south of Domsport cling to a precarious existence in the darkness, trading rare herbs or mushrooms, wines or oils harvested from the sea that cannot be found anywhere else in Elanora. The few who sail these waters to trade with these sparse outposts risk much, but they also tend to be rewarded with riches beyond measure.
