Na'Faish

Destroyed - 0.6.1 agf

Na'Faish is the most distant eastern extent of the Eal Empire. The journey to the city east from the Raven's Way over the eastern desert is a torturous week-long trek over rocky and sandy terrain utterly devoid of drinkable water, under a sun hot enough to seemingly bake water and salt out of mortal bodies as sweat evaporates off the skin as soon as it is produced. During this time the lights of Na'Faish will shine on the horizon, clearly visible as one crests each sand dune, almost mocking travellers as they always appear at night to be much closer than they really are.

Na'Faish herself is best known for her nightlife. To shelter from the sun, locals have learned to live a completely nocturnal life. Firestone from Tokmor to the north helps illuminate the city in the sunset hours. The city persists thanks to an underground freshwater oasis fed from the Dinga hills. While the city has developed a reputation as an entertainment centre and visitors are encouraged to explore, they are also permitted to stay no more than a week lest the crowds put too much pressure on the water supply.

Further east is the desolation of the Moorsland, a rocky extension of the desert that stretches along the entire south-east coast, and the Freetown of Glendale. Na'Faish is used as a conduit for those trying to escape the Empire for whatever reason and reach Glendale, or perhaps travel to Tokmor via the southern freetowns.

The current Governess of Na'Faish is Salsten Riley. She is well liked and popular with the locals, but distrusted by her distant overseers in Eal. She is a necromancer and a well-regarded scholar of desert lore.
