Ivory Road

As much a physical road as it is a figurative one, the Ivory Road extends, figuratively, from Vurn Todur to all points south, where it eventually meets The Underway.  It provides riches flowing in both directions, as glass and other Duergar-made products find their way to the surface, and any number of otherwise unavailable trinkets, foodstuffs and goods make their way to the homes of Rock Gnomes, Drow, and Duergar.

Geography

North-northwest of Edo, the roads pass through a barren land of rock and rubble, with nothing to see for miles on end. However, after passing through the gates of Hoshi Bastion and heading south of Edo proper, things begin to get a bit more interesting.

Heading southerly, the road passes through an area known as the 'Hell Forest', where colossal fungi, carnivorous plants, and all manner of strange beasts reside, ready to kill you or hunt you for sport.

Should travelers continue on this road, they will eventually find themselves face-to-face with gargantuan statues known as the Pillars of Creation.

Inspired, frightened, or bolstered, travelers continue down the richest road in Kermoria until they come to an area known by the denizens of the Underdark as the 'Pits of Ruin', massive cavernous areas filled with sulfurous vents, noxious fumes, and seemingly bottomless, endless pits.  It is speculated, in times past, that this place was once used as a sulfur mine by some unknown race, but it's origins can not be determined for certain.

Continuing southward, the road winds it's way through the seemingly endless maze known as the Plains of Eternity, a wide open space filled with massive steles, rocky gorges, and open rivers of magma.

Tourism

Thousands of people travel the Ivory Road each year, mostly as traders and merchants.  However, there are some pilgrims who pass along it, choosing to brave it's dangers rather than utilizing the crumbling roads of The Underway.

During any given month, hundreds of carts, wagons and caravans will travel the well-used passages of the Ivory Road en route to their final destination, which is, often, Vurn Todur or Edo.
