Pilgrim's Rest

"Pilgrim's Rest has been many things. Now it's just restful. For the pilgrims."   ~Wyndie Rooker, proprietor.

Purpose / Function

The Pilgirm's Rest is a large inn for merchants and travelers, well placed to take advantage of the largely empty space between Sacqueline and Wupan. All traffic from Krezzym eventually passes by and there isn't much choice; either sleep on the road or sleep in the finest (and only) inn in town.

Alterations

The original building is largely unchanged, but a sizeable outbuilding that had started as a standalone kitchen has grown into a complex larger than the original building to accommodate the entire Rooker Clan.

Architecture

Thick, imported timbers form the frame of the main building, plastered with layered adobe stuffed with dirt and gravel to keep the temperature constant. Wood tiles painted blue on top protect from the rain, and the outbuilding compound behind the tavern is made of stone-slab construction.

History

Early in its history, the Pilgrim's Rest was actually a brothel/chapel dedicated to Agasyl. It ran this way for nearly 200 years, until the Year 275, when reforms to the church made such establishments fall out of favor. After that, it was sold to Mias Rooker and has remained that clan's property ever since.    From then on, it has been a thriving yet fairly unremarkable tavern and inn catering to travelers between Cambreath and Wupan.   Recently, the Rooker Clan has resisted ever more insistent overtures by the Stonecutters Society, bordering on a protection racket.
