Community Steelworks

"I'm busy. There's a hammer. Feel free to use the forge."   ~Gugenor Lavahammer, Master Craftsman

Purpose / Function

Community Steelworks is the workshop of Gugenor Lavahammer, though the sprawling complex is intentionally left open to any craftsman that happens by needing an anvil or a smelter. If a craftsman of sufficient skill catches his attention, Gugenor will 'talk shop' with them. This interest can extend to full hospitality over dinner if he feels as though he might have something to learn. Otherwise, all purchases typically go through his assistants.

Alterations

Every once in a while, Gugenor will forge himself a new anvil. When he does, he discards his old one, moving it out to the community floor for open use. His assistants will then build new forges around it.

Architecture

Four large adamantine columns hold up a staggeringly wide dome of bronze. The sides are open, and Gugenor's living quarters are a few simple cells burrowed into the bedrock.

History

The Community Steelworks was built as a public building in 574 to compensate for the lack of a blacksmith. The original building was made out of wood, as were the next four which all burnt down. Mud-brick replaced it, and that lasted until 891 when Gugenor Lavahammer arrived to ply his craft. He knocked out the walls and rebuilt the place to his liking, keeping it open for public use.
