Guardian Clade
Perhaps the most notorious Clade in Vedalken society, largely due to the lead Galeno’s beliefs and methods, is the Guardian Clade. This Clade dedicates itself to creating super soldiers and enhancing life forms via a wide range of magical and scientific research. These studies aim at augmenting physical and mental capabilities, as well as improving overall resilience and adaptability. This Clade specialises in biomancing, employing a range of biomancers to develop spells and enchantments to enhance strength, speed, agility, and endurance. These biomancers explore ways to magically enhance physical attributes and grant supernatural abilities to individuals, effectively creating superhuman soldiers. Additionally, the Clade creates advanced prosthetics, cybernetic enhancements, and genetic modifications to improve the physical capabilities of living organisms. This involves merging organic and inorganic materials to create biomechanical implants that provide enhanced strength, resilience, and/or sensory perception for the user. The Clade has several training regimens and programs that are tailored to multiple groups. Most famously, the Cataclysmic Hybrid Program, which specialises in teaching the Aerumna through rigorous physical and mental conditional, combat and arts training, tactical simulations designed to develop and hone skills and reflexes, strategic thinking and teamwork. There are 3 additional programs for Field Researchers, Biomancers and the Krasis. The Guardian Clade has a huge focus on bioengineering, creating and exploring methods for genetically engineering organisms with enhanced physical attributes and adaptive traits. These creatures are spliced together with genetic material from different species to create the Krasis. There are numerous different varieties. The Krasis have superior strength, resilience and agility, some even going as far as to be specialised to certain roles such as combat, defence, etc.
As well as creating organic constructs and hybrids, the Guardian Clade likes to employ artificers who specialise in the creation of magical constructs and golems, creating them to serve as elite soldiers or guardians. These constructs are imbued with powerful magic and artificial intelligence, making them formidable opponents on the battlefield. Whilst majority are build for the purpose of defence alongside with the Hull Clade, some are created for different purposes in collaboration with the other clades. The Clade has also begun work in the realm of psionics and mental enhancement alongside with the Hull and Gyre Clade, exploring techniques for unlocking latent psychic abilities and developing psychic abilities that enhance cognitive function, intuition, and combat prowess. These psychic super soldiers could specialise in enchantment magic possess heightened perception, telekinetic abilities, or even mind-control capabilities. This Clade frequently works with Cnidaria’s military.
The Guardian Clade was also the first to set up a volunteer program and runs Cnidaria’s main volunteer program, though its no secret that most volunteers come from an impoverished background or desperate circumstances. The leader of the Clade has been known to purchase slaves and manipulate non-gnome land-dwellers into signing themselves up to be used for the experiments. This program does treat sea-dwellers well however and will frequently move them around to the different Clades.
