Grimduff Mountains
The Grimduff Mountains are a sprawling and rugged mountain range located on the northwestern edge of Crestala. Known for their towering peaks and harsh, unforgiving terrain, these mountains are both a natural barrier and a point of pride for the dwarves who call them home. The peaks are frequently shrouded in thick clouds, creating an imposing, almost mystical silhouette against the sky, and the slopes are blanketed in mist and snowfall for much of the year.
Geography
The Grimduff Mountains are jagged and steep, with deep, winding valleys carved by ancient glaciers and rivers. Sheer cliffs and towering rock faces mark the landscape, interspersed with dense pine forests at the lower altitudes. As one ascends, the air grows thin and cold, and the forests give way to icy crags and rocky outcroppings. Massive boulders and scattered patches of hardy vegetation cling to the slopes, creating a landscape that feels both stark and powerful. Hidden caves and tunnels wind through the mountains, many of which lead to the dwarven city of Kuhlmgrut deep within.
History
The Grimduff Mountains are rich in minerals and precious metals, making them highly valuable to the dwarves of Kuhlmgrut. The mines within the mountains are renowned for yielding high-quality iron, gold, and rare gems, which have been a source of wealth and pride for the dwarven kingdom. Deep within the mountains, lava rivers run through hidden caverns, fueling the forges of Kuhlmgrut and lending a volcanic heat to the underground realms. Massive mushrooms and bioluminescent fungi flourish in the darker parts of these caverns, providing light and a touch of otherworldly beauty.
