Capsarii

Clerics that are directly attached to a legion to provide healing support as well as divine boons to the soldiers. Capsarii act as field medics to try and reduce casualties as much as possible. They are trained at the Pillar of Dawn and then receive further training once attached to the legion to learn standard legion practice.

Composition

Manpower

Capsarii are attached to all centuries. Within a century there are 16 capsarii attached. Capsarii are fairly numerous and are readily available to be attached to legions. Capsarii stay within the Pillar of Dawn until they are attached to a legion where they will stay with until the end of a campaign.

Equipment

Capsarii are given basic equipment equipped only with a lorica squamata and a morningstar. The most expensive gear they have are healer's gloves that assist them in dealing with wounds and diseases that may afflict their patients. They also bring with them several copper and silver potions to pass out in case their strength from their gods begins to waver. They also have potions of neutralize poison and remove disease to deal with anything soldiers may catch while on the march to ensure they are fit to fight.

Structure

Capsarii when attached to the legion follow commands from their leading centurion. While in the Pillar of Dawn they will usually take orders from Vox Deus or in rare cases from Father Samuel himself. Capsarii are fairly low in the command structure and on top of that usually do all the cooking and packing for the legionnaires to make sure marches are quick and efficient.

Tactics

Capsarii are healers as well as boons of divine might for the soldiers. They provide healing to fix non-fatal wounds and strengthen the resolve of soldiers fighting on the front line allowing them to hit harder and be harder to hit. They stick to the back and if they do any frontline fighting that means that the fight is going extremely poorly for the legion.

Training

Capsarii are trained in the Pillar of Dawn mostly and therefore receive mostly religious training. They are not meant for combat and most of their training revolves around fixing wounds and preventing disease from spreading. They are also trained to magically produce food for the legions reducing the baggage trains required to feed the legions on the march. The 16 capsarii are generally enough to produce enough food for a century worth of legionnaires.
