OttL Session 38: Kilead Fallen

General Summary

RP roundup

• Thaiva Phenol and Natsu meet both versions of Tsukiko at the same time. "Prime" is her normal healthy self. "Beta" now has a metal arm built by Cyrci.
• Arianna Weskey meets Zarinn Klaedris and Olidammara. Afterwards, Thaiva Phenol tells her about getting Moon Plague.
• Natsu confronts Tsukiko "Prime" about whether she left Natsu on a prior timeline and emotions run high. (discord link)
• Tsukiko takes Natsu with her to Sigil to hire Cyrci to craft some holy symbols.
• Olidammara becomes enraged at Xandrathos Mendarathil and smites him out of existence (ed. note: the actual player quit the campaign)

Talking to Oli

• Olidammara asks Natsu to spy on one of his priests - a halfling, who turns out to be on top of a pile of bodies. This is to confirm his theory that Arrius found Barry the Airship through Lolth who in turn learned it from Vecna's Orb
• Olidammara shares the latest vote of the Divine Council regarding the topic of The Age of Coalescence:

The Wandering Tavern

• Natsu drops by The Wandering Tavern to pick up her holy symbols from Tsukiko. She finds Tsukiko "Beta" holding Jane, one of Lolth's spies, over a counter. The woman is going to be taken to "an associate" to "take care of"
• Redacted rolls history to recognize the woman and gets an answer via DM
• Natsu collects her 47 holy symbols
• Natsu asks Simolio about his and Hobbs' parents. They never met their father, but their mother used to live roughly a hundred miles west of Shippo in a lakeside cabin. Simolio is not sure if she is still there or not.

Miscellaneous Shenanigans

• Redacted asks Olidammara for someone to fight. He duels Zarinn Klaedris, and promptly loses
• Natsu ordains Femtid as a priestess, giving her a paladin level
• Hobbs throws a shortsword at Olidammara for fun. The god keeps it.
• The party decides to go to Moonbrook, but Femtid's aim is off. The first attempt would go to Hades and the second attempt ends up in Kilead. The party decides to accept this second option as close enough.

Kilead

• The town has almost entirely evacuated, and the Feywild has encroached across the entire place. Fey creatures are wandering the streets, and the Baduhenna itself is split open, a large portal glowing from the center of the trunk.
• The party goes down to see Druid Kaiser, who is attempting some sort of ritual on the Baduhenna
• On the way, they catch Hawk following them. The party stops to chat for a bit, and he does his usual "Why does this make you mad?" routine.
• Druid Kaiser tried, and failed, to close the portal himself. He and Hawk are working to protect the town as much as they can.
• Druid Kaiser says the portal led to a town of Kitsune, who were very angry and chased him back through the portal

RP Roundup 2

[DM's note: this RP chat was played between sessions 38 and 39, but chronologically it happened at this time.  We did this because the actual session ended on a cliffhanger and we still wanted to be able to use RP chat that week]

• Redacted knows a few things about Jane's true identity, and discusses them with Natsu
• Caerbor Klaedris sees that Thaiva Phenol is worried about Arianna Weskey and takes it upon himself to go check on her safety.  Redacted comes and the two of them watch as Jane is taken to Hinfyire Soriel to have her memories wiped.
• Hinfyire Soriel does this proudly, taking great pleasure in lording her newfound power over Jane.  She is completely ruthless as she toys with the human and then eventually makes her forget everything.
• For Jane, Hinfyire Soriel accepts an Ouroboros Pendant from Tsukiko.  If the party wants her to do it to someone else, she will give them the discounted rate of three thousand gold.
• Redacted leaves a few gold coins with Tsukiko to give to Jane for when she is dropped off in Sigil to be used as a sort of bait to weed out other followers.
• Natsu talks to Hawk about his son Penguin
• Redacted discusses his backstory at length (discord link)
• Natsu tries to help, but her visions only raise more concerns (discord link)
• Olidammara gets back to Natsu.  The priest shes spied on for him was attacked, which proves Vecna could see through the orb, and also proved to Olidammara what her true identity is.
• Natsu confronts her mother about Vecna's Orb, and then also talks to Kei about it. (discord link)

Investigating the Portal

• After much deliberation, Natsu elects to investigate the other side of the portal. Redacted follows.
• The portal leads to Shippo. Just across the street from where it lets out stands Arrius, with two dozen guards arrayed nearby. He spots Natsu and Redacted immediately.
• They flee back through the portal and onto Barry the Airship, with the rest of the party trailing behind. Just as they are about to set sail, though, they see the guards ganging up on Hawk. He is fighting bravely, but still seriously outnumbered.
• The party decides to assist. Hobbs and Natsu jump off the ship. Natsu uses her feather fall amulet to drift down safely. Hobbs sticks the landing by being a monk, and manages to catch Natsu despite jumping second.
• Very successful diplomacy convinces the Kitsune to stand down as the party plans to immediately go after Arrius himself.
