Mandalorian Military Traditions

For millennia, the military traditions of the Mandalorians have been passed down from one generation to the next. Already skilled in the art of war, Mandalorians took their knowledge and fine-tuned it into specialized fields. If the Mandalorian chose to master a skill, they became a highly specialized soldier or an elite warrior with few equals.   There were no established training regimes or official records of military drills Mandalorians used to master their skills. Much of the knowledge was passed down orally and little if any, knowledge was written down. Many techniques and skills have, as a result, been lost. Those skills that remain, however, are passed down from one Mandalorian to another, regardless of clan affiliation. If the teacher deems his student worthy of the knowledge, he or she will share it.
During the Old Republic, Mandalorians often trained in large groups, often using the opportunity for friendly competition among comrades. It was also common for training to begin as early as at the age of eight years old in preparation for their coming of age ritual, though it sometimes started earlier as was the case with Zabrak Mandalorian Akaavi Spa.

General Prerequisites

How to Acquire

Military traditions are taught by other Mandalorians. This means training alone is not enough to become a master of the field. The Mandalorian must seek out and win the favor of a Mandalorian Warrior in order to receive training. The Mandalorian teacher will give specific training exercises to the student to complete as part of his training. Training must be completed in 5 sessions. Not all teachers offer all sessions, and not all 5 sessions must be provided by teachers. Sometimes, books, weapons, or other means of studying can appear in the world that offers the equivalent of training to the Mandalorian.

Once all parts of their training are complete, the Mandalorian may use the military traditions similar to a feat.

The tradition must be announced as being in effect in combat before the relevant action is made.
