Fons Type

The Fons Types classification system is an academic toolset developed by the deparment of Magick of the Academia Ars Magicka et Mundana to categorize different kinds of Magick by the source (fons) of their power.

There are 5 generally agreed upon fons which are:

Divine (D-Type): Magick which is granted by divine powers ergo beings from beyond the Prime World Disk highest among them the Goddess Serkatha and her Saints but also including lesser gods as well as the natives of the Hells, the Weirdwyld, the Fey Realms, the Elemental Realms and other Realms.

Arcane (A-Type): Magick that stems from within a Magick wielder's own soul and which uses inherent qualities of their character to manipulate the world around them.

Psychic (P-Type): Magick that originates nebulously from a Magick wielder's own brain. Such Magick is hardly documented and researched.

Occult (O-Type): Magick with no clearly understood source that is often hard to control and therefore tends to be feared or mistrusted.

Nefastic (N-Type): Magick which comes from forbidden sources such as the spirits of the Leshivoi Forest. Such Magick is often called Witchcraft and is outright banned within Styx.
