Personal history
When the first dream was created in the universe, Marzanna observed the Dreamlands in their primeval state as the second god in existence. When the first death came in small, mutative cellular life, Marzanna had observed the beginnings of the prospects of evolution. When the first winter came with the giants' manifestations, she touched the snow and felt it encompass her entire being. She had realized her true potential as not just a god to bring death to the deathless, but a god to observe and watch the world decay and renew. She decided that the best course of action in the world was to continue with her sister, Kagia, in ensuring that the Grand Cycle continued everlastingly. Either through her deathly form or through her lively form of Kostroma during Spring and Summer.
In the dreams of the Ancient Giants, she implanted the seeds of chaos and doubt in the gods to ensure a new world would be created after Ragnogoth where outside influences wouldn't disturb the cycle. When the Ascendant One came and propagated her "revelation" to the elves, she ensured they would believe her with dreams of wonder and divinity. When the Versipellis grew infatuated and hedonistic, she ensured their line's potency would wane over a single generation. And when the Adversary, Adrammelech, had slain her fellow Koschevoyan gods like a rabid dog and ate Kagia's soul, she gave the Vile One a hopeful vision, through Kataska, about the Vile One's freedom.
Her machinations go beyond the scope of what the gods in Empyrea desire in terms of "hope," "happiness," and "light." She sees each aspect as futile and temporary as all will fade over time just as her sister did. Marzanna also sees that all will be renewed over time as her sister's plans would be carried on within Marzanna, alone. She sees the only potential in renewing the decaying, bloated carcass of Tenebra is to ignite it in fire, hellfire.
It took the combined diplomacy of the Pantheon of the Black Star to talk down Marzanna from her goals and change her stance on existence. She remembered her values on dreams in the world and gave up her title of God of Death to Mason Black, the Grim Crusader. She now continues to wander the Dreamlands and monitors its safety with her deific powers. She demands no one worship her as she stays a monitor forevermore.
