Known also as the Conran (Serpentfolk) Thuanchung (pureblood) to the natives of
Dakhla and
Sailan. Purebloods/Thuanchung are described as human-like but with minor reptilian features, such as snake-like eyes, a forked tongue, and patches of scales on their skin. Purebloods have weights and heights in the same range as humans. They are high in the hierarchy of the
Serpentfolk as many of the Halfbloods and Abominations see them as pure and close to their ideal. Many Purebloods are made, not born, through a blood ritual that takes place in a great religious ceremony. Purebloods are only able to mate with other Purebloods and Humans. However, if they create offspring with normal Humans (especially those of
Dragonblood), their child will become a Halfblood (more snake-like features, barely humanoid) or Abominations (almost no humanoid features, mainly giant snakes). The powers of the
Jade Emperor doesn't allow them to breed any other way as punishement.
In the
Second Age, Godswar, many humans lived south past the
Bhutani Mountains in the
Godforge Lands. There the Dragons fought great battles on the desert of
Suneku and their bodies littered the place in great numbers. The
Yugoloth Lord sought this as an opportunity and experimented with humans there, trying to combine them with the dragons. His failed monsters would little the world for millennia to come but one such creation, a wingless Serpentfolk called Anathema was born. Using the draconic blood, this creature became more of a god in the Second Age and gathered a large following of mortals, to which he would bestow many gifts and knowledge. One of which was the blood ritual to create the pureblood Conran, which was a ploy by the Yugoloth Lord to weaken the
Jade Emperor. It didn't work as he planed. The Jade Emperor took these servants as his own by force and once the war ended, when the
Third Age, Kingdoms dawned the Serpentfolk founded the ancient
Dakhla nation, only to become a clients state of the
Jadeite Empire. Over the milenia, they would fight for their independence, only succeeding after the
Fourth Age, The Calamity.
On Tethys
Most of the Serpentfolk live in
Dakhla, seeing these lands as theirs by divine right. There might be some Serpentfolk tribes living elsewhere, probably all ruled by a few Pureblood individuals. While their forked tongues are intriguing, most people treat them with some distrust, even if they have good trade relations with the
Djun kingdom as they import large quantities of
Black Powder, which once helped them revolt against their masters.
First World
There are some stories that there existed a race, similar in nature, to the Serpentfolk in the
First World far south in ruined lands that were forgotten. There a civilization built on worshipping the sun sacrificed hundreds to become one of the serpentfolk. However, these are legends and can't be confirmed anymore.
