Mission Briefing

"Got another client calling about some vermin that need taking care of. An emissary from Kindlhollow contacted me this morning saying their pyre obsidian was stolen by some nasty bugs, and they don't have the elfpower to deal with the problem on their own. Sounds like their neck of the woods is going to be experiencing a cold snap soon, and if they don't get this gem back before then they're all gonna be frozen solid. We're sending you into the Feywilds to talk to Rayla, the matriarch of the Kindlhollow Eladrin, to see what information she has about the stone's dissappearance. From what I could understand from her emissary's hysterics, sounds like the bugs've dragged it deep underground, so be ready to do some spelunking when you get there."

Event Recounting

The party arrived at Kindlhollow and met Rayla, who warned that wintery weather is on the way very soon, and explained that all of the more able-bodied eladrin in their small village were out gathering supplies to prepare. Rayla also told them that not long before the team's arrival, some big bugs came and stole the pyre obsidian at the center of the village and made off with it into a nearby cave. The party set into the cave to retrieve it, and found an entire nest of kruthiks, with various branching pathways dug into the rock. After slaying every kruthik in the nest, including a large one believed to be the queen, the party was able to retrieve the pyre obsidian. They returned it to Rayla, who used it to relight all the lamps and hearths in Kindlhollow, just in time for winter.

Notable Continuities

• Axus made a point to kick every dead kruthik to double-check they were actually dead, which has become a time-honored tradition.
• Angie discovered that fireworks are very useful as kruthik repellant.
• The party found two kruthiks that appeared to be made of lime jello, which escaped into the Feywilds while the party was distracted by the rest of the kruthiks in the nest. Venandi was visibly concerned to hear about the existence of these creatures, as well as their vanishing act.
