The Commonwealth
For the common wealth of all! The Realm of mankind is narrow and constricted. Always the forces of Chaos press upon its borders, seeking to enslave its populace, rape its riches, and steal its treasures. If it were not for a stout few, many in the Realm would indeed fall prey to the evil which surrounds them. Yet, there are always certain exceptional and brave members of humanity, as well as similar individuals among its allies of dwarves, elves, and halflings, who rise above the common level and join the battle to stave off the darkness which would otherwise overwhelm the land. Bold adventurers who set off to seek their fortune. It is these adventurers who, provided they survive the challenges, carry the battle to the enemy. Such adventurers meet the forces of Chaos in a testing ground where only the fittest will return to relate the tale. Here, these individuals become skilled in their profession, be it fighter or magic-user, cleric or thief. They will be tried in the fire of combat. True, some few who do survive the process will turn from Law and Good and serve the masters of Chaos, but most will remain faithful and ready to fight evil wherever it threatens to infect The Realms. You are indeed members of that exceptional class, adventurers who have journeyed in search of fame and fortune. Of course, you are inexperienced, but you have your skills and a heart that cries out for adventure. You have it in you to become great, but you must gain experience and knowledge and greater skill. There is much to learn, and you are willing and eager to be about it! Each of you has come with everything which could possibly be given you to help. Now you must fend for yourselves; your fate is in your hands, for better or worse. Welcome to the lands of myth and legend. Your adventures await! For the commonwealth!— Coronal Unther Drokoth, 437 of the Current Era
Looked upon by many in the world to be the lands of the First Noble House Kinn that follow laws and traditions many views as barbaric after the ending their occupation to free the people from Nydeisian slavery in the lands of the cradle of life. The Andrillian Commonwealth, claimed their ancestral territory of Rhigol from the Nydeisian Overlords through The Crown War in 470 C.E. In a turn of events that shocked many at the time, as part of their acceptance of victory the Highlords of Andril abdicated title and the noble rule of it's northwestern lands to their former Nydeisian adversaries.
The Kallakoth heir to the Rhigol Dynasty King Amon of Athon would retain rulership over the newly formed independent kingdom of Rhigolia. When it's Capital of Andril, along with the ruling Highlords and chief among them Coronal Unther Drokoth, a direct male descendant of the Drokoth heir to the Rhigol Dynasty who reappeared atop Temonoi Tempe upon the very site where the City of the Gods once stood, sparked a new golden age for the region. Artifacts and relics of this once powerful nation have raised up a once defeated people.
The Commonwealth of Andril stands as a utopia sprung out of nowhere and lead to fruition by The High Lords of Andril, nine mighty figures each a legendary hero in their own right. Bringing magical artifacts and using them to build thier society has greatly accelerated the rise of The Commonwealth. There are rumored to still exist, in locked caches and bases throughout the southwest and The Andril Mountain Range, powerful sites to the gods buried centuries ago or locked away by Nydeisian decree during the early days of their influence on the Kallakoth lineage that are yet to be uncovered.
The public face of this group of nine is known as The Coronal. The Coronal oversees the Platinum Dragons which are the military arm of The Commonwealth along with the Mithril Guard who act as the civil constabulary, the Iron Wings who defend the skies with mounts of Dragons, Griffons and Pegasi and the Arcane who defend The Commonwealth through use of the magic arts.
Each member of the commonwealth is classified as a citizen, commoner, newcomer, ally or opponent. To become a citizen a test must be passed and if successful the new citizen is placed in a position according to their skills and desires. They are given a residence, a job, and a gift to help them achieve greatness in what they do presented by one of the nine high lords.
All non-citizens are required to wear special magical bracelets to identify them as either a trusted visitor, one to be watched, or one to be guarded against. Unity spheres allow citizens to vote and go about their daily business with ease unknown in most of the world, and mighty portal gates allow the Platinum Dragon Knights stationed in the city of Andril to quickly defend places outside the capital. Each city, town, village, and hamlet maintains their own Mithril Guards and can access The Archivist, a sort of intelligent central library and governing clerk accessed through the unity spheres based on appropriate clearance with sage-like knowledge and near oracular abilities.
Secrets seem to be a pervasive part of the atmosphere. Rumors are that atop the mile high spire in Andril's center there exists a druid’s grove and at its heart, an ancient temple that guards a complex said to have mighty magical devices and access to all places in the Five Realms. Word of such great things has quickly spread throughout The Commonwealth and into the world beyond. An organization called the Adamant Order is whispered to work behind the scenes both within The Commonwealth and beyond its borders to ensure the safety and prosperity of this newborn civilization and the world through any means necessary. It is also said that beneath the capital of Andril was a Underrealm city called Underholme where those from the surface and those from below live in harmony and eagerly trade amongst one another without fighting. An open secret of a base in the Andril Mountains where the Iron Wings train upon thier flying mounts is known, but its location is not. Existing atop the plateau of Temonoi Tepe at the exact place that Esalia once stood – the original home of the gods in The Realms, the parallels of the nine Highlords to the nine Greater Gods seem clear enough to most. Though laughed off as coincidental, this has made some of the other nations uneasy in the least and threatened at the extreme. What the future holds for this Commonwealth in Andril remains to be seen as rumor has it, a deal has been struck between King Amon and Coronal Unther to unite Rhigolia and Andril once again, though the details of when and how are unknown to all but the sons of House Kinn.
Trade and commerce seem to be open to all who wish it in Andril and this has exploded into deals being made with neighboring kingdoms, guilds, and foreign ports spreading prosperity to those friendly to their cause.
