History
Waterfront Industries and the famous inventor Tandil Eranthur were contracted by a joint effort from Arcadia and the Sapphire Isles to build three high powered ships that could break through the heavy storm wall circling Loredas and find out what is on the other side. They used the power of the Elder Demon soul of Water as a power source and connected the ships to the Elemental Plane of Water.
Teams were specially selected and put together by the leaders of this effort, Adam Faera, Anna Blackfist, and Thaler
150 people (and a few secret stowaways) were assigned to three ships, the Annabelle (aka the Annafuck), the Lark, and the Santa Maria. There was some pushback from the members of the religion with some more extreme members attempting to sabotage the trip. It was also revealed that Crimson, the 16 year old son of hero Samuel Eshpard had also stowed away on the ship to attempt to make a name for himself.
Many issues arose on the voyage. Monster attacks, lost ships with dangerous creatures, an encounter with the and its, as yet uncontacted Merfolk, not the least of which was the death of Crimson Eshpard by Sahuagin. The biggest issue by far was the extended amount of time the journey took and the lack of catchable food. Hunger struck the crew resulting in the crewmembers of the Annabelle mutinying, killing, and eating all resisting members of the Santa Maria and attempting to sail home (to their doom on the ocean).
The final ship, the Lark nearly made it to the edge before getting scuttled by the Aether that formed a barrier around the continent. The four survivors, Arun the First, Ares, Serrure Luxord, and Jeager found themselves at the ruins that circled the continent, looking down on Aldas below and the massive pit of Deridah that cracked apart the landscape.
The God of Destruction Balimor still aware in his comatose state, seeing a chance to finally exact its will on Loredas struck out a tendril of Corruption into Ares, taking her over and turning her on her allies. They were able to force the magic out of her but as it continued to try and find a host, Arun the First heroically took the magic into himself while flinging himself to the continent below, dying on impact.
