Nira's Fine Foods
You walk along The Emperor's Canal, looking at the variety of shops and stores along its length, but your eyes rest on one particular structure that stands out from the rest. It is a very ornate building, using a mixture of stone columns and painted brick to give this very noble air to the place. Just above the door is a well-made wooden sign, showing a pair of runaway cheese wheels and the name "Nira's Fine Foods." You can smell cooking meats and frying fish coming from inside, and you decide to fill your rumbling stomach here.
Entering, it is even more elaborate on the inside. Well-made oaken table and throne-like chairs fill the interior, very few of them full at this time of the morning. What few patrons there are give the feeling that this is a high-end eatery. You see one group of students or scholars who are eating from a platter with a pile of books in front of them, as well as another couple that look to be finishing their meal. Weaving around from table to table is a single woman, who waves at you and gestures at an empty table.
Purpose / Function
This building is evidently an eatery, specializing in a variety of cold and warm platters. A basic platter has a variety of small slices of bread, cheeses, cold and smoked meats, and fresh vegetables. More expensive platters may have the meats cooked in a particular manner, rarer cheeses, or sautéed vegetables. They are elaborately garnished in any case, and are the creation of the head chef for whom the place is named.
Architecture
Nira's noble family helped finance the construction of this place, and their wealth is very apparent in its construction. Marble from nearby dwarven quarries and expertly-crafted and fitted bricks make up the outside of this building. The interior is made of expertly-assembled chairs and seats, and the tiling of the floor has rare patterns hardly ever seen this far north. The platters are of polished brass or even silver, showing off the high-end nature of this establishment.
History
Nira's Fine Foods is a recent addition to the local area, only being constructed some ten years ago. Since then, it has become the high-end eatery, frequented regularly by richer scholars and the aristocracy.
