The Great Canal
The other major canal you see in Losgate is to the north. It is not quite as wide, but still rather massive in size. It is a little bit less busy, but looks much better. It has a orange and white sheen to it, and you admire the metal lamps that line the sides of it.
Purpose / Function
The Great Canal is the major thoroughfare of the city of Losgate, as it is the canal that passes the major libraries like the Ruby Reserve. It also passes by the two major temples of the city and ends right before the mage tower owned by the College of Mages.
Alterations
A couple of small offshoots of the Great Canal have opened up recently in order to aid people using the canal to get to places such as the Ruby Reserve or the College of Mages tower. They are much thinner, but still rather large by the standards of the city's canals.
Architecture
The Canal itself is constructed with orange Schintian Granite, with some white granite and marble used for the underside or as highlights for the canal's edges. The official width of the canal is seventy-five feet from one side to another.
History
The Great Canal predates the Gratic Empire's arrival in the city. It was much smaller back then, and then the Empire expanded it, making it second to the Emperor's Canal further on at the end of the First Age.
