Maleth
Maleth is one of the islands in the Rasrathnii Islands. It was once the home of the Cyclopes dedicated to Moon-Eyed Selenepeios, but several hundred years ago the Hleemeentreezee emerged from nowhere upon the island, bringing destruction with them. These horse-headed invaders bound and slaughtered the Selenepeios, shattering the god's soul into countless parts. After the death of their god, the remaining Cyclopes where demoralized and made easy prey for the Hleemeentreezee. Ever since the invasion, the other Cyclopes of the Rasrathnii Islands have talked continuously about plans for revenge, but they have never been able to overcome their own internal divisions sufficiently to execute any of them.
Meanwhile, the Hleemeentreezee have transformed the island for their own purposes. Their extreme hatred of other races has left the island shrouded in secrecy, as nearly all who might have reported on conditions there have been slaughtered and supposedly eaten by the Hleemeentreezee. What little is known is quite disturbing. Reports indicate that the Hleemeentreezee have somehow used the spiritual void created by the murder of Selenepeios to summon their own god into the world from wherever they originally came from. This entity is known as the Hleeheeha, or the Long Cold Dark. Ever since the Hleeheeha became the soul of Maleth, the island has been shrouded in a dark mist that rejects the light and heat of the sun. This mist extends a few feet beyond the shore of the island before terminating suddenly, and has the unsettling property of immediately quenching any fires that enter it. The Order of the Lightkeepers have declared the island to be anathema, and many among them believe that the Hleeheeha is the nemesis of their organization.
Geography
Maleth is an island with many low hills and a heavily indented coastline which provides good harbors. The highest point on the island are the cliffs along the northern coast, overlooking the Gauzo Channel, and there are caves throughout this area.
