Exploring
Exploring is the process by which player characters visit and survey previously uncharted areas of The New World. In order to successfully explore an area, a Party need only Travel to it through The Wilds and make camp overnight, likely taking a Medium Rest in the process. This will reveal the new area's hex on the World Map and eliminate the Travel Time penalty characters would previously have suffered while traversing it.
Optionally, after Exploring an area, the Party may remain there and search for Dungeons, valuable Resources, and other points of interest by spending twenty-four hours in the area and passing a group INT(Investigation)/WIS(Survival) check (Difficulty 15), though they are not required to do so. A character has Advantage on this check if they possess and are proficient with Cartographer's Tools.
Exploring new areas is one of the main ways in which characters gain XP and NPCs will frequently offer Bounties to do so. A Party which explores one or more new areas in the course of their adventure must make note of this in their Adventure Report and may, if they wish, name an area they explored or any geographical features they discovered therein by referring to them in the report by the desired name(s). Names created by players must meet a minimum standard of seriousness and are subject to veto by the GM.
