Travel

Travel is the process by which a Party of characters moves from one point in The New World to another. Adventuring typically includes Traveling from a Sanctuary to one or more points in The Wilds and back again. Characters may Travel during Downtime as well, but only from one Sanctuary to another. They may not take a Long Rest while Traveling, but may take a Short Rest or Medium Rest at any time.

It takes Time to Travel from one hex on the World Map to another. By default, characters Traveling by foot, wagon, or ship can traverse roughly one hex per day, while characters with horses or other fast mounts can traverse two hexes, though these Travel Times can vary depending on the Terrain of the hex(es) in question. Traveling from one point to another within the same hex always takes half a day. All Travel Times are doubled in hexes which have not yet been charted via Exploring.

At the end of an adventure or Downtime session which included Travel, the GM will calculate the total amount of Time each character spent Traveling. Those characters cannot be played again until the applicable Travel Time has elapsed. Players may reference the List of Player Characters to determine when a given character will become playable again.
