The Feywild

Summary and History

The Feywild, a realm of chaotic beauty, was once stabilized under the reign of Tyrdelius Chronolos Asquit the Third , a lesser elven deity whose presence calmed the natural flux of the landscape. After the cataclysm in West Sorus, King Chronolos left to save The Material Plane, entrusting the Feywild to six new Archfey. This decision led to the creation of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, with the latter forming after Esmea's corruption by the Gem of Darkness.   A notable feature of the Feywild is it's extreme time dilation, compared to Mechanus Absolute Time, one day elapsed is 5 years in the Feywild. Returning to this plane after a couple of months away can lead to extremely unpredictable visits as a result.   Additionally, the very landscape of the Feywild is influenced by the mood of the closest Archfey, these beings are extremely powerful and hold absolute power in this plane.

The Feywild War

A terrible war in the Feywild began when the Queen of Darkness, once a summer eladrin named Esmea, corrupted by the Gem of Darkness, sought to conquer the Feywild and bend its inhabitants to her will. She used eldritch powers to summon nightmarish creatures from The Far Realm, and also corrupted countless eladrin who became cultists known as The Star Children. Her reign was marked by a campaign of destruction against the Archfey that lasted for hundreds of thousands of years. However, the party intervened, navigating the Feydark and gathering ancient relics including the Frostheart Bloom, to weaken her. After an intense battle, the Queen of Darkness was finally defeated, and the Gem of Darkness was locked away, restoring peace to the Feywild.

The Seelie Courts

The Summer Court - Senaliesse

Ruled by Queen Titania, the Summer Court resides in the towering silver trees of Senaliesse, a city of crystal stone and natural beauty. Titania is a formidable strategist and a force of nature when angered. Her court, filled with flowers, water fountains, and playful faeries, reflects the warmth and vibrancy of summer.

The Green Court - Shinaelestra

Lord Oran, the embodiment of spring's renewal, rules from Shinaelestra, a fortress harmoniously reclaimed by the encroaching Forest. Representing growth and wildness, Oran's temperament is as unpredictable as the blooming forest he governs.

The Winter Court - Kathrius

The Prince of Frost presides over the Winter Court from the Glacial Spire, a mountain of crystal-clear ice. Katrius is the lone town nestled in the harsh, frigid landscape of the Winter Court in the Feywild. Home to Winter Eladrin, the town is a place of stark beauty and isolation, where visitors are rare and treated with cold indifference. The Prince, trapped within the Summit by a relentless storm, wields the Ring of Winter, containing its malevolent force.

The Court of Coral - Shale Dothore

Originally ruled by Elias and Siobhan Alastai, the Court of Coral is nestled beneath the Lake of Dreams. Now governed by Elias, the city is a hidden aquatic marvel, reflecting the tranquility and mystery of autumn's waters. Siobhan, who eventually became the formidable Baba Yaga, rules the surrounding Mistwood Forest with ancient and dark magic.

The Unseelie Court

The Court of Gloaming

Located in the Feydark, the Court of Gloaming is the domain of the Unseelie fey, led by the corrupted Esmea and her followers. This shadowy court is home to darker fey, creatures who embrace the more malevolent aspects of the Feywild.

Neutral Inhabitants

Beyond the courts, the Feywild is teeming with neutral beings like ents, myconids, satyrs, and unicorns, who prefer to exist outside the conflicts between the Seelie and Unseelie.

Saying Goodbye

The party have made many friends in the Feywild, and as they leave the Feywild, they come to understand that many will be dead whenever the party is to return, due to the large time dilation of this plane. During their long visit to the Feywild, the party have met the following NPC's:
  • Kevat, Ven's spirit guide during Ven's first death. Kevat sold his ability to love to the Bab Yaga in exchange for the Spirit Lantern that would help save the Feywild from the Queen of Darkness. Kev now roams the Feywild, mapping it out properly, this time.
  • Kelethra, Kevat's ex-girlfriend. Kelethra is very heart broken about Kevat's actions, but she's young, and she may find Kevat again, who knows.
  • Captain Thalassor, Naav's dream battle mentor, and leader of the armies of Shale Dothore. The Captain would spend the rest of his days training the younger generation, hopping to secure the Dreamer's eternal legacy.
  • Lirael Sunweaver, Esmea's long term friend who stopped aging due to her broken heart. After the defeat of the Queen of Darkness, her time began to pass once more, and she lives out the rest of her days with the Glintstone Dragons.
  • Icicle, a baby glintstone dragon who was rescued by Lirael. Icicle would grow up to become the next leader of the Glintstone Dragons.
  • Auralith, leader of the Glintstone dragons, Auralith believed in the party hard enough to offer them a Frostheart Bloom, the life essence of one of his kin (Prismarilla). Auralith passes away surrounded by love and life, a fitting end for a great leader.
  • Tyrdelius Chronolos Asquit the Third , also known as Chrono. The party have been through thick and thin with the Prince of the Fey. Chrono stays behind by choice, to help build the army that was promised to the party by Lord Oran of Green. Chrono is nearly at the end of his life, but he plans on pursuing immortality now that he has learned of his true origins. Maybe an Archfey can help him achieve this...
  • Harlem, the Summer Eladrin bard. Harlem helped the party fight the Baba Yaga when Tiriel could not (due to his deal with her). After failing to defeat her, Harlem parted ways with the party, but he did promise to alert them via sending if she was ever to return to the feywild.

Artifacts

There are three known artifacts of power in the Feywild. First is the Book of Vile Darkness, currently kept safe in a library in Cendriane, city of fallen stars, guarded by the Summer Eladrin. Next is the Ring of Winter, which is trapped with the Prince of Frost in the Glacial Spire. Finally, Baba Yaga's mortar and pestle (self explanatory).
