Cul the Serpent

King Cul Borson (a.k.a. The Serpent)

Cul was the firstborn son of Bor, the elder brother of Odin, and the father of Tyr.

Following Bor's death, Cul was crowned King of Asgard. However, he grew increasingly tyranical and paranoid, eventually resulting in the beginning of the Aesir-Vanir War. After his wife Brün was killed in battle, he withdrew from society, trusting only the council of Generals he named his Worthy. After a short reign, Odin led a coup against him, personally killing his brother in battle.

His son Tyr was only a child when his father was killed, and was allowed to live, although he has been excluded from the line of succession.

Following Hela's Rebellion, when she copied her uncle and created her own Worthy, Odin ordered Cul's name to be removed from all records, even going so far as to alter the records of Tyr's parentage, in order that he could not be used as the inspiration for any future uprisings.

Author's Note
There is nothing to suggest Cul exists in the MCU (or Odin's other brothers, for that matter), but there is also nothing to say that he doesn't, so adding him into Hela's backstory is a fairly soft retcon.
