Norse Paganism

Norse Paganism was a religion which developed during the Proto-Norse period, when the North Germanic peoples separated into a distinct branch of the Germanic peoples. It was largely replaced by Christianity during the Christianization of Scandanavia.

A pagan reconstructionist religion based on Norse Paganism, commonly known as Heathenism, was created in the 20th century.

The gods of Norse Paganism are alien beings known as the Aesir and Vanir, and a related religion is the state religion of the Asgardian Empire. As the gods are also the political rulers of the empire, it opperates somewhat like the imperial cults of ancient Rome, with the King of Asgard regarded as a God-Emperor.
