Master Yao was a powerful Magic User, and Sorceror Supreme in the 15th Century. He was the teacher and mentor of the Ancient One.
He was especially reknowned as a master of healing magics, and wrote a number of treatises on the subject which are still considered definitive.
He was recruited by Stephen Strange and the Demiurge using the Eye of Agamatto to help in fighting back the Empirikul Invasion in the 21st Century.
Along with Kushala, Modred the Mystic, and Ire of the Crua before the Ice, he defeated the Imperator, before being returned to his own time.
