Maxar am Maxalli

His Grace, Grand Baron Maxar am Maxalli (a.k.a. Bright Pate)

Third Grand Baron of Wessridge and father of the current Grand Baron, Maklin am Maxalli. Maxar is remembered fondly in the Grand Barony as a fair, honorable and good ruler. He instituted many beneficial policies during his eleven year reign as Grand Baron.   Maxar ruled Wessridge during its greatest economic and cultural height.  Income was high, infrastructure was new and growing, people were flocking to the region in greater and greater numbers every year, and peace was the norm across the Barony.  It is remembered that where his father, Maklir rebuilt the City of Wessridge, Maxar renewed it.  Buildings, walls and towers weren't simply rebuilt but were painted and decorated to a degree unknown at any time in the past.  Temples, schools and hospitals were opened across the Barony.  Roads, bridges and canals brought goods, produce and people to places that had not had them previously.  Rare or expensive goods from far lands were available in markets and shops like never before.   Then, one night in 213 AF as he was finishing his evening meal with some of his children, Maxar died suddenly of a violent and undiagnosed seizure that casued him to thrash, spasm and foam at the mouth until he passed.  His fatal fit lasted only 15 minutes.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Particularly corpulent in his physique and demonstrating a tendancy to balding at an early age.  Never very athletic or physically active (much like his father), he was a gifted administrator and exceedingly intelligent.  in spite of carrying an extra 70 lbs of body weight, Maxar was very healthy.  None recalled him ever even suffering from a sniffle or cough his entire life... until the day he died.

Special abilities

Amazingly capable with sums and figures.  Maxar was known to carry on an involved conversation while simultaneously using an abacus to tally sums in a ledger.  It is well documented that the Grand Barony's revenues were at their highest levels ever during his reign as Baron.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Beginning in 210 AF, Maxar began to raise his voice against the actions and policies that he saw being promoted and acted out by the Duke of Hekmo, Turl am Nari.  Helmo's belligerent acts against his Colian neighbors and his harsh words and policies against any fellow Imessian nobles that questioned them were antithetical to everything that Maxar felt he had been working towards within the Grand Barony.  Furthermore, he feared that Hekmo was not being entirely truthful to the High King Max II.  Maxar was a close relative of the High King and they had been very close when Max II was a child.  The High King thought of Maxar more as an uncle than a second cousin once removed.   This close relationship with the High King was one of the few in the Kingdoms that was speaking contrary to the views and actions of Hekmo as the Second Northern War was building up.  The animosity between Wessridge and Hekmo was building by the day when, in January of 213 AF, Maxar died of a very mysterious ailment during his evening family meal.
