Xosutan Kingdom
This is a ancient hereditary monarchy that once ruled over much of the continent. A series of bad rulers, rebellions, and an event later known as 'The Arrival' where they tell of people of the stars migrating to this world in a large event, differing tales of this event pin different people as the one's who arrived although the dragonborn are generally considered one of them. This has put The Xosutan Kingdom as odds with The Tsaeci Empire to the east, the two nations regularly skirmishing but neither has committed to total war yet. The current king of the Xosutan is considered a good and just ruler, if conservative, and due to his steadily declining empire has been relying more and more on outside alliances and adventurers for help in solving the kingdom's issues.
The Monarchy of The Xosutan Kingdom, still called the Xosutan Empire by many of its nationalist citizens, along with their ruler, has been an unbroken family line for millennia. Almost two thousand five hundred years of a single family ruling the throne has led this human dynasty to be the most prestigious on the planet, and many nobles on Xhenta, and even many on Nelon, claim to be ties to the Xosutan line of Emperors. To protect succession over such a long period of rulership; the family decided that only the eldest child of the current ruling monarch would be able to carry on the last name Xosutan, with others free to take on a new surname, usually incorporating the phrase 'Xosu-' into it, examples of these lineages include Xosutava, Xosuken, and Xosutey families. If there came a time when the current ruling Emperor or Empress died before producing an heir, their next sibling, or their parents next sibling if they had none, would take the name Xosutan as would their eldest child and assume the role of Emperor/Empress.
Xosutan was once the most technologically advanced nation on the planet, with an empire stretching half of a continent and millions of citizens in their fold. They were said to be able to reach the stars, sail the skies, explore the seas, and cut through rock as if it were air, all using the intense magic that had been integrated into Xosutan Society. The only real rival they had at their peak was the Jingling Empire to their east, covering the other half of the continent they laid claim to. Although wars broke out between the two on several occasions an uneasy peace settled, with the technological application of magic to create great artifacts of the Xosutan, never able to fully conquer the ancient magics of the Jingling sorcerers. At its height the Xosutan capitol was a grand flying city that drifted over the continent of Xhenta, with what's left of it still drifting over the Shardlands, claimed by another empire.
The ruins left behind by this empire can be found all over the world, with outposts on every continent, although their home continent of Xhenta is where they are concentrated the most. Adventurers frequent these ruins for hopes of big scores, dragons call them hordes, and mages lay claim over them in hope of finding traces of ancient magic.
