Mystryl Temple District

Despite its name, the Temple District is more than just a religious center in Mystryl. This district represents the seat of power in the city, and therefore in all of Winderia. The Temple of Nine Stars, Brighthall Castle, and the Magic University of Mystryl are all here, rising up the slope of Midnight Mountain and looking down on the rest of the city. Beyond these symbols of religion, military might, and scholarly pursuit, the estate of the Temple of Nine Stars also includes numerous administrative offices for governing Mystryl.   In addition to these primary landmarks, a Temple District visitor can find the following shops and services.

The Scroll & Quill, Temple District Branch

  • Type: Hired Help, Team — Scribes and Clerks (service)
  • Guild Member: Yes
  • Description: The scribes at the Scroll & Quill are the masters of history, literature, mathematics, and business in Mystryl. While other scribe/clerk offices in the city specialize in one area, this office handles all with expertise. Among the shops in their guild, it has no peer.

Dedmon's Divine Guidance

  • Type: Hired Help, Team — Priestly Guidance (service)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: Situated just off the grounds of the Temple of Nine Stars, Dedmon's offers counsel in all matters of religion and the divine. It is named after a former priest who retired from the Church of Mysteries to move into the private sector. For those not fortunate enough to have a direct connection to the Church of Mysteries, this is your next best option, though it will cost you.

The Holy Smite Brigade

  • Type: Hired Help, Team — Hands of the Divine (service)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: A little further from the Temple grounds, the Holy Smite Brigade offers more "direct" assistance to those in need. Comprised of clerics and paladins, they are specialists trained in the use of divine magic for both combat and practical mission scenarios. They are considered some of the elite hired hands found in Mystryl, and they charge accordingly.
  • Notability: None.

The Midnight Hour

  • Type: Inn (service)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: The lone inn in the Temple District is of the utmost quality. Only patrons who can afford the finest things stay in this district. This typically includes traveling dignitaries from the other major cities, as well as wealthy merchants and nobles from the outlying country. Because of its status, the owners do not find it necessary to join the Innkeepers Guild to enhance their position in the city.
  • Notability: Some well-connected citizens believe the inn is more than meets the eye, though no concrete evidence or details have been gathered.

Mystryl Preparatory Academy

  • Type: Schoolhouse (service, non-commercial)
  • Guild Member: N/A
  • Description: Mystryl Preparatory Academy is the most prestigious primary/secondary school in Mystryl, making it one of the most prestigious in Winderia. Its stated goal is to train students for entry into the Magic University. Seats are reserved for the children of important officials in the Confederation Arcanum, and remaining spots are typically taken by the wealthiest families, save for one awarded to a common family through a lottery.
  • Notability: Many important families have children enrolled here, but the highest profile student currently is Devynn Halathar, eldest daughter of Virgil Halathar and presumed next Knight of Mystra.

Grumblerock's

  • Type: Artist (shop)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: Urgok Grumblerock, the dwarven owner of the shop, is a master sculptor and one of the very finest artisans in Winderia.
  • Notability: Urgok is one of few people on record considered to have mastered the sculpting of nightstone, the name for a particular type of stone harvested from Midnight Mountain. Its unique structure makes it difficult to shape without cracking, and his works are the only ones in the city that are made from the mountain that are worth purchasing.

The Sacred Elixir

  • Type: Alchemist (shop)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: Many shops in Mystryl can mix natural remedies and exotic tinctures, and some can even pull together healing potions and other minor magic brews, but only the Sacred Elixir can work and deal in high-level alchemy. Lorsan Oladi, the proprietor and primary alchemist, is highly accomplished in "pouring" magic into a vial.
