Lyra can apparently talk to snakes, and three of them start talking to her, following when she leaves the room. Lyra has no idea why she can understand them, but she seems to be able to. Weird.

[Upon examining the ankh Lyra picked up, it appears that the amulet is actually part of something larger, such as a staff. Interesting.]
[Lyra and Lottie are acting weird. Lyra hasn't mentioned Asher at all, and Lottie really doesn't want to return to Tikal, while Lyra does.]
While Lyra and Daniel return to Tikal, Lottie and Juan stay behind to work on research. I have classwork to do - mostly writing papers. Juan offers to help, and it's actually nice to have someone knowledgeable to talk to about it.
