Session Date 2021-01-31

by Raven

[from GM (as we follow the jaguar that's apparently leading us to Juan, or at least toward more clues): You notice deep boot prints going both directions as you follow the jaguar and Lottie. Seems they're Lorkian's recent footprints.]
We're led to an island with boats and huts. There's tracks here, and a book that Lottie says has been annotated by Juan. So between that and the whip Lottie found in the jungle, it's pretty clear Juan was here. Now, where did he go, and is it possible to rescue him?
[[from GM: There are enough tracks to indicate that several someones camped here for at least two days. There is also evidence that there were more than three boats here. Most of the tracks are several days old. The newer tracks belong to Lorkian - they match the boot prints. There are also dog prints among them.]] It seems that someone was here with their dog up until a few days ago, and probably left by boat.
The book left behind seems to indicate that they followed the smaller fork of the river, headed downstream...
Lorkian is rather dubious about the wisdom of using these boats to follow Juan or whoever was here, but he picks the best two boats and helps us set out.
We're not very good sailors, and as we round a corner both boats dump us out. Lyra transforms into an alligator and we attempt to hold on while she swims. It's a bit awkward, but at least we're not in immediate danger of drowning or being swept completely out of control.
Around the next bend, an almost-familiar near-humanoid figure is sitting on a rock...until it dives into the water. Lyra shakes us off to deal with it, leaving us at the mercy of the river and our own swimming abilities.
I manage to make it to shore - with Daniel's help - and Lyra manages to chase the were-creature off. Daniel needs to be fished out of the river after having fallen in again when the bridge he was trying to cross collapsed under him, but Lorkian manages to get him safely back to shore. We're now on opposite sides of the river, however. This could become a problem.

[[session truncated - I don't feel well. the others are continuing for a bit longer.]]
