Accursed Voyage

by Nilus The Immortal

Shortly after being hired onto the crew, I happened to run into some familiar faces. Soren and Raghnall were here, and on the same crew even. With them was a new face, another immortal employed by Lady Eta, named Balthazar. Through Raghnall, we were able to meet the captain and discussed our plans to eliminate Magellen and find the lost treasure.

I had an interesting moment with Balthazar, where he revealed he had the powers of an oracle. He could see glimpses of the future, although sometimes the visions would be fragmented or the meaning would be unclear. He told me of a vision he had when I was discussing what Roderick told me about the Kahiin. He saw a future where I struck down a man shrouded in shadow, and I lost my soul in the process. I wonder what it could mean? Although in any case, it is somewhat exciting- I had visited many oracles in my early years of immortality and learned nothing. Balthazar's prophecy is proof of what I have attained!

Whoever that shadowy figure in the prophecy is, it certainly wasn't Magellen. Together we struck him down and quickly took care of his guards. I took a shot to the chest. These new weapons are really something else! While healing from that wound, I continued to be plagued by nightmares. It was fortunate to have Raghnall in the area again, his expertise in healing is always helpful. He also identified the source of my nightmares as likely being from corruption, rather than a message from the gods, and he has a mind to address it once our current objective is completed.

As we reached the destination hinted at on our maps, the location of the treasure was, unexpectedly, in an underwater cave. We swam to the bottom, where we found some strange creatures, covered in scales and spikes. Underwater they had a distinct advantage, although they were obviously still no match for me. Unfortunately fighting while holding my breath is harder than I expected; and between that and the wounds from the first, I wasn't able to go finish the lot of them. Our captain then chose to send man after man under the waves, increasingly frantic in his greed, until eventually Soren got fed up and struck him down. The rest of the crew seemed rather relieved to see him go, after his sudden bout of madness. At least before we left, we did pull up one chest, and I was able to find the flask I was sent here for.

With my goal accomplished and the rest of the crews appetite for adventure severely diminished, we made back for the main land. As we disembarked the ship to go our separate ways, I was shocked to discover that Balthazar turned out to be Toussine in disguise all along!
