One Adventure Ends, Another Begins.

by Nilus The Immortal

The war in France carried on for some years. Our victory in Orleans became seen as a turning point in the conflict. With my reputation following the battle and the captured English general, Geoffroi and I were finally able to contact the prince. In return for my exceptional service in the coming years, it was agreed that we may take the long sought Roman standard. With our objective finally in hand, we traveled back to Rome where we turned it over to Dominus Scriba Felix. In exchange, as we had promised, he had a lead on where I might be able to find my passage to the underworld.

He gave me an invitation to commemorative Hellenic games in Greece, a decade of games in about a century run by immortals. A representative of the gods, the Eleusinian Heirophant (old greek cult basically) would oversee the games and the winner is granted a favor. The games begin in 1620, so it being 1450 gives me a fair time to practice. From what Felix tells me, the games will include Discus, Chariot, foot race, wrestling, boxing, sword fighting, as well as a few group games (warfare, foot race).

Worth mentioning, whilst I was still in France, I happened to see Jehanne again. Despite her death in Orleans, it seems perhaps she has joined the ranks of the immortals. Unfortunately, it was not a happy reunion, as she was on trial for witchcraft having returned from the dead. Apparently, she may have been worshipping the wrong god at some point and they were determined to see her burn for it. She deserved better. It would seem her legend took a turn for tragedy. But if she really is immortal then perhaps, we shall meet again.

With some downtime in Rome, I waited around to meet with Roderick. I told him about the war in France and how I saved Orleans. I mentioned Jehanne may be a new immortal, but in his opinion looking for her would be difficult and probably a waste of time. She would be found by other immortals sooner or later. He also told me about Kahiin(sp?), a group of immortals he referred to as the dark side. These dark immortals had decided to use their unlimited time to cause suffering, or work towards ending the world. Roderick hunted a few of them for 60 years, and found some capable of raising the dead, as well as other strange dark powers. It also came up that Roderick was apparently married to Lady Eta at some point?! Wild. Apparently, they split because Roderick wasn't fond how many secrets she kept and schemes she cooked up.

Rod also pointed me to a blood artist apprentice, Johanns, who needs help getting a special new ink. His master left to find it somewhere in South America? I traveled to where I was sent and found the master, Joshua. He was too old to continue his search but gave me a map to find the component. I followed the map to a port and found a ship, the San Antonio, captained by Juan de Cartegena, one of the five ships of Magellen. When the crew heard about my combat prowess hired me on as help, but secretly wanted me to kill Magellen. From what I understand he should be a pushover, although he may have loyal allies around him. I'm more concerned that killing him may make returning to Johanns and Joshua with the ink very difficult.
