A skilled warrior from ancient Greece. After his first rebirth, he believes himself chosen by the gods to fulfill some great destiny.

Nilus was born in what would today be 389 BC, in a fishing village in the Greek City State of Thebes. His father was a soldier and rarely home, so most of his time was spent with his two older brothers, who grew up on stories of Great warrior heroes like Achilles. When Nilus came of age, he joined the military.
 
A few years later, Nilus was engaged in a battle at sea. His ship was rammed, and his head smashed into the mast. Disoriented, he fell overboard and into the sea. He didn't know it at the time, but this was the first time he died. He resurfaced some time later and made his way back to the army. He died again in battle, several years later and when he resurfaced from the ocean once again, Nilus was very confused. When he died the third time, he realized he must be immortal; and the only way that could happen is if he had been chosen by the gods to fulfill some great destiny!
 
After that, Nilus took every opportunity that may lead to greatness, eventually landing himself in the army of Alexander the Great. By this point, he had been fighting in wars for 40 years and become quite skilled. He performed well enough to gain some renown amongst the army, although never enough to stand among the legends as he had hoped. Unfortunately, after the death of Alexander, the army became splintered into several successor states and years of war amounted to little.
 
With the aftermath of Alexander's generals vying for supremacy, Nilus decided to change tracks and maybe try to find his destiny through adventure, rather than warfare. He left the army and traveled east. Alexander's conquest had taken him so much further than he ever thought to go... how much more was still out there?
 
It took many years, and was difficult with the language barriers, but Nilus eventually saw his way as far as China, and even then it seemed like the world might go on forever. Nilus began to wonder just how much more of the world was there? But more importantly, how far would he have to go to find his destiny?
 
He returned back to his old homeland to find it very much changed. The Roman Empire had expanded to cover much of the region and seemed to be holding together better than Alexander's had. His actual hometown had changed so much that he barely recognized it. He visited some of the nearby temples, in hopes that maybe, after all this time, the gods would speak to him and reveal his destiny, but they remained frustratingly silent on the matter.
 
At one temple, however, there was an old man on the steps outside when Nilus was leaving. The man was a storyteller, sharing a tale with the local children about the legend of Orpheus and Eurydice. Supposedly after Eurydice died, Orpheus traveled to the underworld and spoke with Hades, eventually convincing the god to release Eurydice. The story still ended in tragedy when Orpheus failed the trial Hades had given him, but thats not what interested Nilus. He asked the storyteller where Orpheus had entered the underworld from, but the bewildered old man had no idea.
 
Nilus saw this moment as an excellent lead, however. If Orpheus could travel to the underworld and speak with Hades, then certainly he could too! And since he had been denied entry to the underworld when he died, then the god Hades would know why! The quest to find the way and meet with the lord of the underworld would certainly be the story of a legendary hero as well, so Nilus began his long journey to meet Hades.
 
Unfortunately, Nilus was a much better fighter than scholar. Asking around only led him to various scholars and philosophers, none of whom knew any way to the underworld besides, well, death. Outside of Greece, it seemed Rome was becoming the center of the world, so Nilus set his sights on traveling to the great city itself in hopes of finding information.
 
Traveling Rome ended up being harder than he expected. As a foreigner, there were limits to where he could go and who he could speak to. Fortunately, Rome had a strong military that was always looking for able-bodied young men, and service could lead to citizenship. Nilus signed on and spent years fighting in various Roman wars. Unfortunately, any time he typically had to restart his service. They either didn't believe he was immortal or thought he had gone AWOL and was trying to get back in.
 
He did eventually make it though, only to find that Rome had even fewer answers than Greece. In the time it had taken to get there, Christianity had begun to take root and the old gods, Nilus' gods, weren't as well known. At that point, Nilus was out of leads. The only thing left to do was chase rumors.
 
So chase he did. Any time there was a rumor of some kind of monster or unusual happening, Nilus made an effort to go there. His adventures took him all over Europe, usually traveling as a caravan guard or mercenary for spots at a time while he tried looking for anything of relevance. He saw a few strange things over the years, but most notably for the story of Nilus was when he hunted the Cyclops.
 
On an island south of Italy, there had been rumors a Cyclops had been spotted. Nilus found a ferry heading down that way, where he ran into a group of hunters seeking the same monster. Their leader was a tough looking man named Roderick, and after some brief introductions, he and Nilus got along quite well. They traveled to the cave of the Cyclops and ambushed it in the night. The battle was hard fought, but Nilus was able to kill the Cyclops when he cut its head off its shoulders. Unfortunately, Roderick had been badly crippled in the battle, and his legs were mangled. Roderick then killed himself after saying "Meet me in Rome."
 
This is how Nilus first discovered the DiaFotizo and the existence of other immortals. The other members of the hunting party explained that they were part of an organization where everyone was immortal, and they took Nilus to meet Roderick again in Rome. Nilus was fascinated to discover other immortals existed, although they were still clearly different. As far as anyone could tell, none of the others were chosen by the gods, and had attained immortality by some other method.
 
Not one to turn down an opportunity for adventure, Nilus was interested in seeing more of this group. If they had more leads on monsters, he wanted in. But also, because of how old and well connected the group was, Nilus made a request that they help him find an entrance to the underworld. In return, he would do what he could to help the DiaFotizo in their goals.
