A journal entry of Iago - We Live! - but the king doesn't

by Iago

The fateful day arrived like any other, a sore rump and more travel. The king's men hadn't killed us, but facing the king himself was the real test. I was sure the day would be hard fought, I was right, but for the wrong reasons. My plan was simple, keep my head down and stay near the fate twister. The audience with the king was actually very uneventful. We told the story and presented Isi. Rei and Bibiana were very nervous about leaving her, and she seemed distressed as well. The king allowed us to visit her when ever we pleased, to assuage our, and her fears.

The moment of truth arrived, and I gripped my sword tighter than ever, as the king directed us to another room to receive our payment. I have never been more shocked that when I received that bag of coins rather than a dagger in the gut. It wasn't a death sentence! We didn't have to fight our way out of the castle! I still can't believe it!

We made our way back to the Boar's Head to celebrate, pirogues and ale! I bought the first round for my friends and allies, I felt alive for the first time since ... ever? For a few short hours we were on top the world, mission fulfilled, bellies full, and rich.

The day ended on a worse note though, A vison of the Lich King, Reign taunted us Speaking to the prince in his dreams, we informed him - the king is dead, long live the king.
