The Copper Dozen

The Copper Dozen is an independent group of so-called monster hunters dedicated to the eradication of “unnatural” things. They are primarily located in the Kingdom of Endor and operated in the early Fifth Age.

Description

The Copper Dozen is a group of monster hunters seemingly dedicated to the eradication of “unnatural” things. This goal includes monstrosities, aberrations, and other creatures that are unnatural or have been created through magical means.   According to Krummer, the leader of the group in 5A 178, dragonborn were not necessarily "natural things either", however he seemed to display an understanding about their connections to the divine.   It is unclear what the motivation for this group's actions is. However, the do appear to be dependent on outside funding or the sale of their services. According to Daelee, the group had some level of notability in Endor, at some point.   Each member of The Copper Dozen wears a dwarvish copper disk on their left shoulder pauldron. The disk bears iconography identifying them as a member of the group.   The group employs a wide variety of skills, including trapping, hunting, and combat. They appear to be willing to do immoral things to acheive their goals. They value the strength in their convictions over any concerns over morality.

History

The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
At some point before 5A 178, a group of kruhtiks entered the Iron Range region. The Copper Dozen were alerted to this threat and began working to hunt the kruthiks down and exterminate them.   The leader of the group, Daelee, suffered a major wound and was possessed by a karakura trapped at the Fane of Black Hematite. She became the leader of the kruthiks and began working to repel The Copper Dozen.   At some point after this, a group of The Copper Dozen battled and lost against several kruthiks in the Horukzul Caverns.   Since that time, the reputation and funding for the group would diminish. Krummer became the leader of the group and started working towards revenge against the kruthiks.   5A 178
On 20 Sedaena 5A 178, Krummer and three others trapped two juvenile kruthiks and used them as bait at the waterfall gully entrance to the Horukzul Caverns. Just as two adult kruthiks were drawn out, the battle was interrupted by Luyos, who released the juveniles and drove them back to the caverns. Krummer brought Luyos and his companion, Thelmann, to their nearby camp and demanded they track down a new entrance to the warrens.   In the morning of 21 Sedaena 5A 178, other scouting groups returned to the camp and reported more entrances were being sealed. Krummer shared information about the kruthiks with Luyos before they ventured out.   After Luyos found another entrance, they killed the kruthik at the entrance. Krummer forced Luyos to scout ahead into the dangers of the caverns. Luyos then collapsed a tunnel, separating him and Krummer.   On 23 Sedaena 5A 178, Krummer was leading the group to a new campsite further into the Iron Range to search for the kruthik warren. At the mountain tarn source of the Immrinni Stream, they suddenly encountered a dozen kruthiks, led by Daelee. A hectic fight broke out, resulting in Luyos aiding them to repel the kruthik attack.   Luyos and Krummer, wiht the rest of The Coper Dozen, pursued the fleeing kruthiks farther into the Iron Range. They battled and slew the remaining kruthiks, and two of the members were killed.   Meanwhile Luyos and Krummer followed Daelee to the Fane of Black Hematite. They rescued Daelee and killed the karakura possessing her.   After the battle, Daelee was reestablished as the group's leader with Krummer as second-in-command. The group chose to continue hunting the kruthiks that remained underground.
