Gherman

Gherman "The Fallen Tempest"

Gherman, known as "The Fallen Tempest," was raised among the Orog tribe in the Iron Edge Mountains of Nolavor's western reaches. The Orog were devoted to Talos, the god of storms, though their worship manifested through savage rituals that shaped Gherman into a disciplined and pitiless warrior. Bound by duty to his tribe, he secretly longed for a life beyond their isolated valley.   At fourteen, Gherman encountered a mysterious elf druid named Jatara during a gathering hurricane. Sensing the cruelty he had endured, Jatara appealed to Gherman's hopes for something greater, tempting him with forbidden knowledge of the wilderness's magic and harmony. Intrigued, Gherman became Jatara's student, learning minor nature spells and the Druidic language.   However, Jatara's true motivations were darker—she hoped to use Gherman to gain access to the Orog valley and undermine them from within. She nurtured his independence while subtly stoking his resentment of the tribe. After Years of manipulation, Jatara ordered Gherman to help a captured Reclaimer scout infiltrate and spy on the Orogs. Conflicted but compliant, Gherman obeyed.   When the betrayal was uncovered, only Jatara's quick lies portraying Gherman as a pawn prevented severe punishment. But Gherman's trust in Jatara had been shattered. He realized she saw him as an expendable tool, not a protégé. When the orc warlord Gruznak later poisoned Jatara for refusing to bend the knee, Gherman felt relief at being freed from her manipulation.   With the tribe questioning his loyalty, Gherman performed a show of retribution before disappearing into the wilderness. He sacrificed his rigid past for a lawless future of his own making, driven by cold ambition rather than justice.   Gherman's path led him to join Thronn and Fouk in their perilous journey through Nolavor. His strength and combat prowess proved invaluable, particularly during encounters with the Bloodclaw warband and the Mistwatch. Gherman's defining moment came during a confrontation with Chief Gruznak, Thronn's father, at a Goliath village. In a display of savage fury, Gherman engaged Gruznak in single combat, even biting off the orc chief's nose.   However, Gherman's tale came to a tragic end in the murky waters of an ancient temple. During a fierce battle with Tuurkidrax, the dragonborn gladiator of the Mistwatch, Gherman attempted to drown his opponent. In a final act of defiance, Tuurkidrax unleashed her lightning breath, fatally electrocuting both herself and Gherman.

Gherman, a towering Goliath Barbarian from the mountain villages, carries the wild, untamed spirit of the jungle within him. His journey, fueled by a mission from his father and a deep connection to nature, leads him through the perilous jungles.
