Strimien Half-light
"I thought you could be saved. Maybe you still can."
Strimien Half-light is an artificer, defector from the nightbringers of Mavislak the Blood-eyed, and hero of the Eventide. He worked closely with the Light Brigade multiple times after trying to have them killed, and in the end it was his intelligence on the enemy's plans that helped the surface world to achieve final victory.
Little is known of Strimien's early life except what was shared with, and then by, the Light Brigade. He was born to a drow mother and an unknown father, and spent his entire life working to rise in rank under Mavislak after he came to power in Turaz-Gul. At the start of the Eventide, he was commanding a team of duergar in eastern Gaulvista who were working to collapse towns using one of his cubes. When they lost this cube to Æshir Þorlássón and his two companions at the time, Strimien took the guise of a surface half-elf named Naal and began to travel with the newly-formed party a few weeks later. He learned that they had left the cube with Archcleric Aldo Simeria at the temple to Vedanav in Saender, information which he shared with his superior, leading to the destruction of that temple and recovery of the cube by the nightbringers.
The party, unaware of this, continued to travel with him until he led them into a trap which landed them in the Underdark town of Trigafor, where they were to be executed. They escaped, and Strimien was taken in to be executed in their place, but used some tools he had smuggled in to lash together a makeshift cube which he used to escape as well. He found them in the Lowerdark, through which they were journeying to reach Turaz-Gul and find a wizard to teleport them to the surface. He offered the possibility of future intelligence in exchange for letting him travel with them, collectively increasing their chances for success.
The night they teleported back to the surface, appearing in the headquarters of the Ignis Eyes in Saldim, Strimien slipped away under cover of darkness. Being proficient in disguises, he proved difficult to find, and his precise activities during the time he was in the wind are still unknown, though it is believed that he simply lived quietly, trying not to attract attention.
In mid-July of 1000, a person believed to be Æshir Þorlássón appeared in Bluehaven and alerted the guards that all Cubes of Strimien would be nearby the following day. The guards acted on this tip and managed to secure the cubes, but Æshir failed to make an appearance. It was later discovered that it was not Æshir, but Strimien in disguise, having been living in Bluehaven and watching for nightbringer activity using his insider knowledge of their habits and codes.
Strimien was finally found working with, and possibly charmed by, Vetrano the Illustrious in his demiplane near Bluehaven. The Light Brigade found that he had formally defected and begun working against Mavislak's plans. Shortly afterwards, he again refused arrest, but willingly traveled with them to the Shadowfell to find and remove the power source from the Crepuscule for the creation of the Twilight Blade, with which they would be able to kill Mavislak. He fought alongside them and demonstrated his trustworthiness time and again.
After the party returned to the material plane, Strimien stayed with them, and fought in the Battle of Geldereth, directly assisting with the defeat of Mavislak. A few days later, King Talesan Fairfell formally pardoned him of any and all crimes he had committed on Jeltiri soil. Lord Wivvyrholdalphiax Adrex, who had become his friend, offered him a job guarding one of his properties, but Strimien declined, and struck off alone. His whereabouts have not been known since.
