Discovering The Truth

The Truth

Deep in the Ruins of Akai, The Unlikely Association learned "The Truth". This truth was revealed by Flarus, the primordial titan of fire. Flarus revealed that The Goddess was shattered into many gods and goddesses during the Dawn of Creation - not just the 5 goddesses of today. There were deities for all things, including grand concepts like time and Magic, to the incredibly mundane - like insects and dirt.
The Goddess has since been piecing herself back together by destroying her split aspects. She does this either by physically destroying the aspects, or subverting their followers. Each time she does this, the memories of all living beings are erased of the destroyed deity's existence - including any recorded histories.

Flarus' Plan

Flarus seems to have a plan related to this story, possibly to reveal the truth to all - though it is unclear what exactly he intends. He has asked The Unlikely Association to gather 7 Magic Items of legendary significance, providing them with one such item - Rule Breaker - to get them started. Once they have gathered all 7 items, which is all he asks for now, Flarus has promised to reveal what their purpose is and what needs to be done. Each member of the party was shown the location of one of the items:

• Calis - a vibrant turquoise lake - Godric (ACQUIRED)
• Setan Kober - on the hip of a familiar Dark Elf - Marty (ACQUIRED)
• The Arkbow - glowing in a dark cavern, muffled female voices can be heard nearby - Veda (ACQUIRED)
• The Unbreakable Chain - being used to hold a large set of keys - Eva (ACQUIRED)
• Earthshatter - being used as a totem for a tribe of strange cat people - Atlas (ACQUIRED)
• Bolgae - aerial view of Erfu - Leah (ACQUIRED)
• Rule Breaker - appears on the ground (ACQUIRED)

Kain's Plan

Kain, the deceased god of knowledge, also had a plan to gather these 7 items - which he dubbed "The Keys of Fate".
It was through Kain's actions with the The Divine Dozen that these items were created. The items were forged by Caminus, originally as a single artefact with the siphoned power of the 12 deceased deities. The artefact was then shattered into the 7 keys, and spread throughout time by Chrom.
Kain believes that once all 7 pieces are found and reassembled, the veil that The Goddess has placed on the world can be lifted - though it is unclear how this will happen, and what else is involved after the 7 keys are gathered.
Baxilden is unclear as to what Flarus intends to do with the Keys of Fate, but he is certain that they should follow Kain's plan instead. Baxilden believes that Kain will reveal the next clue once the 7 items are gathered.

Acquired Items

So far, the group have managed to acquire the following items:

1. Rule Breaker - provided by Flarus
2. The Arkbow - was found by the Shadow Witches and used in a ritual to destroy the Seed of Mortona. The ritual resulted in the ascension of Morgana, who then gifted the bow to The Unlikely Association as she departed to pursue her own vendetta against The Goddess.
3. The Unbreakable Chain - Eva and Atlas managed to steal this item from the home of an old Gnome who works at the Platinum Vaults
4. Setan Kober - the Dark Elf Tokira attempted to assassinate Marty with this dagger. With the help of Mortona, Marty was able to discern that Tokira was cursed in some way. Freeing the assassin from her curse, Tokira was able to drop the dagger and fled - thanking Marty for releasing her from the blade's evil.
5. Calis - after completing the trials of a Water Dragon beneath the Dora Lake, the party acquired Calis and its powerful sheathe
6. Earthshatter - after saving a town of Leonin from the machinations of a Rakshasa, and defeating a giant T-Rex that was causing a threat to the Tabaxi, Earthshatter was acquired
7. Bolgae - acquired by Harmony in Erfu
