- Marty casts commune, learning that Mortona doesn't seem to have knowledge of Morgana's situation, the queen has Kureta's best interests at heart and The Goddess cannot overhear Marty's prayers to Mortona
- An awakened fish asks Leah for some food, and gives her a diamond ring from the riverbed as thanks
- Arrive back at Kureta City, take Afflencia to the Water Dragon Tavern for safety
- Head to the mayor's home to collect the documentation to enter the wizard's tower
- Go to Veda's home to discuss what to do - meet Ely Lunam for the first time
- Half of the party go to the University of Magic to research the tower, whilst the others go to the College of Exquisite Arts
- Discover that the tower was inhabited by a wizard called Baxilden The Thoughtful, many years ago. The tower is made of solid Kurete, and has been impenetrable since it became abandoned. All manner of attempts - magical or otherwise - have met with failure. The latest attempt resulted in damage to nearby buildings, and a law was passed to leave it alone
- The group meet up at the tower, where a door magically forms as Veda approaches
- The party head inside to discover a well kept building, magically cleaned by animated broomsticks
- A statue holds out a book with only the number "12" written in it, his other hand is empty, and held outwards
- The party investigate each floor of the tower, as they begin to solve the mystery
