The Three City States

Hampton Island

The Township of Hampton Island is a an aristocratic city. The classes are heavily defined here, and there is an obvious ruling class. While there are many people settled on the island, it is not densely populated in any space besides close to the two ports on either side of the island. There is no official government, besides a committee, which elects a director in the case of need only. The committee is made up of the entire ruling elite of the Island. These are the land owners. All others on the island fall beneith the land owners. Their family is considered High Society, and is still amongst the upper class The Caste system is as follows:

  1. Temporary Director of the Committee
  2. Committee Member
  3. High Society
  4. Domestic Class
  5. Labor Class
  6. Undesirables

To be a member of the Domestic Class, is to be in the good graces of High Society. They tend to be house hold servants, or managers of the lower classes. The Labor Class is made up of those who do much of the work of the Island. Their living situations are rarely nice, but they are often denied education, weapons, and are fed enough to do the work they do, and worked to exhaustion regularly. The Undesirables are those who have been cast out any class by the High Society or the Committee, they are allowed no shelter, jobs, or even food. Few survive being cast out as Undesirables, those that do, often find ways off the island, or subsist on garbage or the secret assistance from someone in the Labor class.

Askurg

Askurg is a Isolated Island Nation. They have a strict immigration and Emigration policy, and take extreme measures at the two gates of their large city to enforce these procedures. This does not mean that the citizens within are unable to leave, but it does mean that they are subjected to interrogation for the reasons and plans. Trader ships and their crews are given special license, and must follow specific regulations to maintain said license. Little is known about the structure of its government, because of its isolationist nature. It has never treated to a external diplomat, and it is only public burecrates acting as representatives that any communication has been conducted with any other government.
Visiting the City is absolutly possible, though you are subjected to extream questioning, physical searches, as well as a magical assesment. Those that violate their laws as visitors, are treated harsher then their own citizens, which is saying something. Ignorance of said laws are never an excuse, and often such claims only worsen the individuals circumstances.
There is a large fortress, that resembles the ancient fortress, but has been very well maintained. There is also an ancient cathedral, of which visitors are not welcome to visit. Little is known of the worship that takes place within, as only members of the relgious organization are allowed entry, even amongst there own citizenry, and they rarely reveal anything, even what gods are being worshiped beyond those doors.
The City itself does not seem to be evil on any level, besides the almost totalitarian presence of armed guards, but the peace and safety within the city can be denied by no one, as there is almost zero crime within the bounds of its wall.

Utarford

The City of Utarford is a strong city state on the southeastern edge of the continent of Aygess. Once several villages which have grown together over time, migrating to common space between them. Each of these old villages are now considered Districts oF Utarford, and still have there own Governors, The City state is governed by these 4 Governors. Each is Elected, and governs for 8 Years, but may be re-elected endlessly, and usually are. Elections are held every 2 years for one of the positions, and is voting is not limited to the zones they will be governing. Every Year, they alternate to a new high Governor, who will make decisions in the event of the inability for the small council to decide.
