Rokthorl

Central to The Dragonlands, Rokthorl sits to the east of the imposing Djerad Mountains, home to the renowned Rokthorl Mines, which serve as the lifeblood of the city's economy. With a population ranging from 65,000 to 100,000, Rokthorl is a bustling metropolis where Dragonborn reign supreme, with Kobolds serving in various roles under their rule.

Demographics

Dragonborn: The majority of Rokthorl's populace, revered as the native inhabitants and rulers of the land. Kobolds: Subservient to the Dragonborn, fulfilling various roles such as miners, laborers, and servants. Dwarves: Due to the mining focus of the city, Rokthorl has welcome a number of Dwarves whom are treated as full-blooded citizens. Their skills, knowledge and expertise in the field of mining is much respected here.

Government

The Order of the Twin Temples: As with the rest of the civilized cities within The Dragonlands, The Order control all political matters, ensuring adherence to religious doctrine and maintaining order.

Guilds and Factions

  • Rokthorl Mining Society: The Rokthorl Miners Society is a faction representing the interests of the city's miners, advocating for their rights, safety, and fair treatment in the dangerous profession of mining. Comprised of miners from various races, including Dragonborn and Kobolds, the society serves as a collective voice for the laborers to negotiate with mine overseers and city officials.
  • The Brotherhood of the Forge: The Brotherhood of the Forge is a venerable guild within the city of Rokthorl, comprised of skilled craftsmen, artisans, and engineers who are deeply rooted in Dragonborn tradition and culture.
  • The Dragonborn Brotherhood: Originally a fraternity of elite Dragonborn warriors and nobles, bound by honor and duty to protect the city and uphold Dragonborn traditions. They may act as enforcers for the Divine Hand and play a pivotal role in maintaining order. In recent centuries, non-male members have been permitted to join the cause. Despite this, the name has not been updated to reflect the changes.

History

There is an ancient story that it's name originates from a miscommunication. During of of the many Cave-Ins at the mines to the West, some of the injured miners ran from the mine screaming for help with the "Rock Fall".
