The Fey Courts

There are two well known groups of Courts within the Feywild: the Seasonal Courts which reside on the Plane itself and deal with govermental responsibility, lawkeeping, order and maintainance of peace and the Divine Courts which reside off Plane and are made up of the members of the Sylvan Pantheon.   It is not uncommon for there to be a crossover between the Seasonal Court allegiances and the Divine Court allegiances, which at the best of times makes it hard to know who one can trust.   In terms of the Courts, both Seasonal and Divine, it is worth noting that not all Fey owe allegiance to any of them, and are referred to as Wild Fey. Most often found in The Inbetween, or sometimes wandering the lands owned by the Courts, or merely residing within their personal Domains of Delight, if their power is great enough to allow for one.   In terms of the Courts, both Seasonal and Divine, it is worth noting that not all Fey owe allegiance to any of them, preferring to remain impartial in all things. These Fey are most frequently referred to as Wild Fey, and are often known to roam the Inbetween more often than anywhere else, though they can rarely be found wandering the seasonal regions or merely residing within their personal Domains of Delight, if they are powerful enough to own one.

Seasonal Courts:

The Courts and their inhabitants work together as a governmental force, overseeing the way the Feywild runs. For the most part they function well, they keep within their own regions and do not over extend their leadership where it does not belong. Occasionally there are moments of conflict between them if a denizen of their realm causes trouble which requires dealing with, but more often than not they attempt to work in balance.   There is always some tension between the Summer and Winter Court, their monarchs being the Avatars of Titania and the Queen of Air and Darkness, with their personal conflicts causing some disparity among their courts. Most of this is waved away with over exaggerated politeness and an understanding that just because one is of the Summer or Winter Court, does not mean they are also Seelie or Unseelie.
  • The Spring Court rules over the North West region of the Feywild known as the Fields of Spring, and is commanded by King Oberon, consort and eternal lover of Queen Titania.

  • The Autumn Court rules over the South East region of the Feywild, referred to as the Pastures of Autumn. At present the throne of the Court sits empty.

Divine Courts:

The Divine Courts are split straight in two, the Seelie Court and the Unseelie Court. These two groups are, in essence, the Pantheons of the Feywild, known in the Material Plane as the Sylvan Pantheon. Similarly to the Seldarine and Dark Seldarine they are two that formerly existed as one, but separated unironically into two groups which many perceive to be the representation of “good and bad” in the Feywild.   The Seelie Court is led and overseen by Queen Titania, and in her image, the entire Pantheon is dedicated to the protection of the Feywild and the Fey who live there. It is worth noting that their care does not stop at the edge of their borders, as they share much affection for the Material Plane and those mortals who would make contracts and pacts with them.   Allied with the Seldarine and Yondalla's Children in particular, the Seelie Court has many of the same enemies: the Dark Seldarine, Beshaba, on their part there is still some lingering hostility towards the Old World Orc Pantheon, but none of their enemies are greater than the Queen of Air and Darkness and her Unseelie Court.   The Seelie Court is followed to and adhered to by a great many Fey, most, if not all are those who follow the same doctrine of wishing to protect, defend and preserve the lifeblood; lifestyle and wellbeing of the Feywild.   The Unseelie Court is led and overseen by the Queen of Air and Darkness, in in her image, the entire Pantheon is dedicated to malice; harmful mischief and scorn towards their foes. While they defend the Feywild in their own way, their way of life is far harsher and crueller than their Seelie brethren.   Allied with the Dark Seldarine, and a few less savoury Gods along the way, the Unseelie Court cannot count many among their friends nor confidantes, but it is vastly prefered that way.
