The Chosen Nine

The Chosen Nine was a group of heroes that were prophecized to stop the Harmonic Convergence by destroying Caldera. They began as two separate groups.   The first group consisted mainly of members of the famous Group of Elves who defeated Queen Belladonna and Waywocket the Wicked: Damek, Queen Qibynn, Alan, alongside new members Xyla and Leisl Siannodel. Their part involved retrieving Blackrazor from the Shadowfell  The second group consisted of heroes who had been raised from the dead leading up to the Harmonic Convergence: Adam Firstman, Waywocket the Wicked, Nettie, and Kraggin. This group was in charge of finding a way to get to Caldera. They commandeered a Pirate Spelljammers owned by Captain Zar'kak  The groups eventually combined, forming the Chosen Nine from the Prophecy and sailing to Caldera.

History

Act One: The Hunt for Blackrazor

The first group met in Shademoor during a feast to celebrate the upcoming Harmonic Convergence. Going to the past to visit Aramel, Alan found both Aramel and Blackrazor gone. Leisl Siannodel snuck into the room as the group discussed his disappearance and the strange piece of cloth found at the scene. Leisl revealed herself and offered to help, especially because she recognized the cloth. Going back in time to investigate the crime scene, Leisl had a vision that Blackrazor was in the Shadowfell and of it being grabbed by a skeletal hand. The group crossed into the Shadowfell at the Fortress of Shadows to begin looking for it.   The group arrived in Elderfall, where they spoke to the Sages. They suggested the group check out the Ebon Library. There, they discovered information about Blackrazor. Leisl asked the 900-year-old librarian if that was really it. She pulled out a scroll and gave it to them, revealing the Prophecy of the Chosen Nine for the first time.
In shadows deep, where secrets sleep,   When three moons align in the sky,   A blade of dark and power stark,   Shall herald doom if left awry.     The Harmonic Convergence calls,   A thousand years, the cycle falls,   Awake the heroes lost to time,   To challenge deeds of ages past.     The smallest moon, Caldera named,   Of fire's breath and core inflamed,   Must fall to save the world from night,   And break the grip of ceaseless blight.     The sword of black, with hunger sown,   Must strike the heart of molten stone,   To break the curse and bind the flame,   Or shadows rise to stake their claim.     The chosen nine, their fates entwined,   Must battle through both space and time,   For should they fail, the world shall mourn,   As darkness from the depths is born.
-Prophecy of the Chosen Nine
Looking at a tapestry on the wall of the library, Leisl had another vision, this time of the Abandoned Chapel of Sylvanor. Going to check it out, they found a hidden tapestry with nine figures, one of which is sticking a sword into a pedestal. They were then attacked by a Shadow Dragon, which Alan dealt the final blow to. With the Shadow Dragon gone, the group spotted the Obsidian Altar in the distance. They began to head that way.   After arriving at the Obsidian Altar, they find that Leisl's father Denton is guarding Blackrazor, having become Sir Mortis the Death Knight. They try to convince him to hand over Blackrazor, and he attacks. Leisl then dealt the final blow to her father.   After leaving the Obsidian Alter, they ran into Odd One, who teleported them to The Dungeon & The Dragon & Adam's Dead, where she expanded upon the prophecy and warned them that Waywocket the Wicked is one of the people they'll need to work with. She also said she knows what happened to Aramel, but will not tell them.   Alan used the Brooch of Time Traveling to bring them back to Castle Arania. Odd One followed them there and teleported them back to The Dungeon & The Dragon & Adam's Dead. She then said the other group would be arriving right about now.

Act Two: The Resurrected Heroes

The second group consisted of heroes who were all brought back to life on the same day, 2 weeks before the Harmonic Convergence. Nettie was brought back to life by Nanny Wormgums. Waywocket the Wicked was brought back to life by the Cult of the Night Mother. Adam Firstman sprouted out of the druidic tree outside Zelphus which had sprouted when he sacrificed himself. When he did, he became a Plantfolk. He met Itham, who thought he would get a promotion for being there when Adam emerged. And finally, Kraggin was brought back to life by Henry Duskgloom, who just wanted to prove he could raise a body from the First Era.   Odd One the Archfey teleported Nettie, Waywocket, and Adam to No Rest Cemetery and told them to ask Henry about the Prophecy of the Chosen Nine. Henry did not know the prophecy, but told them it involved nine heroes doing something before the Harmonic Convergence in two weeks.   Henry told them to visit the city of Shademoor to find out more. But before the left, he had a test for them. He summoned the Undead Mancer Brothers and had them attack. After Seifer Mancer and Caelum Mancer were killed, Henry called the rest off, saying he didn't want his creations to die. He summoned skeletal horses for them and sent them on their way.   Upon arriving in Shademoor, the group met Wizzleburt Twiddletwink, a member of the Cult of the Night Mother who offered for them to stay in his house. This got weird very fast as he bathed Waywocket, Nettie found a hidden altar dedicated to Waywocket, and Adam found a murdery basement.   They split up, with Kraggin and Nettie heading to the Blackrose Institute of Witchcraft and Waywocket and Adam heading to Castle Arania.   At the Blackrose Institute of Witchcraft, Kraggin and Nettie spoke to the headmistress, the Astronomy Professor and Professor Thorne, the Divination professor. They learned more about the prophecy, but not its specific contents.   Meanwhile at Castle Arania, Waywocket and Adam met back up with Jack and Sybil Fortuna, asking Sybil about the prophecy. She recited it for them in full. She promised to crystal gaze and tell them what she learns.   The group met back up at The Winking Star, where they exchanged information. Here, Nettie used Scrying to look at Damek the Bastard. She saw the other group in the Abandoned Chapel of Sylvanor. They went back to visit Sybil and decided they needed to find a way to destroy the moon. When she informed them that the other group was retrieving Blackrazor, they resolved to find a way to get to Caldera.   They then went back to The Winking Star to see if they can find a Spelljammer Captain.   There, they met Captain Zar'kak, a Hadozee space pirate from Ladassa. When he told them that passage to Caldera would cost 10,000gp, Nettie cast Suggestion on him. Odd One then appeared to the group and told them they needed to pick up the others from The Dungeon & The Dragon & Adam's Dead.   Resolved to go to Eastvale, the group arrived at Shademoor Skydock, where they were attacked by rival pirates. After defeating them and throwing them off of the Skydock, the group continued on towards Eastvale.   Upon arrival, they followed Odd One to The Dungeon & The Dragon & Adam's Dead, where they walked in to meet the other group.

Act Three: The Destruction of Caldera

The two groups meet up in The Dungeon & The Dragon & Adam's Dead. There was immediately a lot of distrust among them, particularly towards Waywocket and Nettie. They left shortly after and boarded their ship.    As they were leaving the atmosphere of Illon, they were attacked by Nezrabog the Red, who claimed he was sent by the Raven Queen to stop them. The group battled the dragon, with Nettie dealing the final blow with her trident.
