Pamesani Arena

Some of the inspiration and details is derived from Colombia Games and the Hârn Religion Team (HRT) Archive

Coranan's Pamesani Arena is a lavish and huge stadium, the home of the bloody spectacle that is the Pamesani Games. Here gladiators, animals, criminals and slaves do battle, with the bloodshed dedicated to the god Agrik and his henchman the Demon Pameshlu.

The arena has a huge towering stone edifice which can be seen from all over the city. The outside walls are decorated with relief sculptures of glorified combat, monsters, strange beasts, flames and religious symbolism. High-quality and sometimes lewd statues adorn the promenades. This structure has four public entrances each flanked by huge statues of two of Agrik's eight demonic sons.

A smaller octagonal shaped temple is attached to the north-eastern wall of the stadium, a small temple to Agrik and administrative center.

During the nights of the games and on the 8th, 16th and 24th of the month and other holy days flaming braziers are lighted on the top of the stadium walls making an impressive sight on the cities skyline.

Purpose / Function

The stadium holds games on the days of the new and full moon. Admission prices range from 1d to 12d depending on the seat and the show. These are "games"are run by the Orders of the Octagonal Pit who manage administration and the Demon Pameshlu the Insatiable who act as guards and gladiator/animal trainers.

The Feast of Balefire is held on the 8th of Agrazhar, the most popularly observed Agrikan holiday. During the day the arena holds its most spectacular events. At sundown adherents form a solemn procession of eight loops around the city, carry torches. This parade ends back at the arena, where the finest livestock is slaughtered and roasted for a feast.

History

The arena was built in 685TR. Many building and business were forcibly purchased for this project which caused some outrage but the popularly of the games has minimized any legal action.

The church of Morgath had a temple on this site but a large payment to the Order of the Lord of Chaos financed relocation to a much larger and more secure new temple.
