Keghauler Meadery
The Keghauler Meadery was established in Mythrite a little more than four months ago, not long after the Keghauler brothers, Ebrus and Bergrem, arrived in town. On the outside, it looks like a simple one-story building with stone walls and a tiled roof. It’s constructed in an L-shape conveniently within a corner between roads, with the smaller front section built along the main road and an extension running alongside a smaller street.
Upon entering the meadery, one will find themselves inside the storefront. This large room holds a collection of barrels and bottles advertising Keghauler mead along with a front desk equipped with small steps so that the dwarf owners can look their customers in the eye. People can sample and buy mead here, although most of the mead’s stock is intended for the local pubs and taverns. Therefore, the storefront is more commonly the area in which contracts with the meadery are made.
The extension in the back is where the magic happens. Kegs and brewing stations line both sides of the hall, operated and maintained daily to provide Mythrite with the high-quality alcohol necessary to deal with frontier life. Ingredients for the mead are stored in the back. There’s also a double door that leads outside.
Below the brewing area is a cellar in which a majority of finished mead waiting to be shipped out is stored, as well as a locked chest that contains all of Ebrus’s business documents. There are two entrances to the cellar. One is located outside, a set of wooden cellar doors that open to a stairway leading down. This is the way the Keghauler brothers take when bringing kegs of mead down. The other entrance is in the brewing area, simply a hatch and ladder that allows quick access to the cellar for any reason.
The meadery is owned and operated entirely by the Keghauler brothers. While both of them are experienced brewers, each keeps to their own role within the meadery. Ebrus is the more business-minded and savvy of the duo. If he’s not brewing, he’ll be the one found in the storefront appealing to patrons or managing transactions behind his desk. Meanwhile, Bergram, who’s known to be kinder and gentler than his brother, isn’t the brightest of the bunch. He keeps himself busy in the back all day brewing the mead, much to Ebrus’s delight. The brothers run the meadery together and look out for each other, but Ebrus is definitely the one in charge.
