Services & Trades Corridor
The Services & Trades Corridor is a noisy and often congested area in town. It is a study in opposites from one end to the other, with the clanging of the blacksmiths' forges in the southwestern corner near the Barracks to the eastern edge bordering Charlamaine Hill lined by the offices of those offering Professional Services to aristocratic clientele. Everywhere, one is surrounded by the sights and sounds of labor and industry.
Most of those who provide Guild services rarely venture out of their prescribed workspaces, regardless of whether they're shaping metal, stitching clothing, or poring over mining claim paperwork. Disputes can arise due to the noise or foul stench associated with some trades, especially when a neighbor's work requires concentration or if they host negotiation meetings. These issues are usually resolved with nothing more than harsh language and small dust-ups. The professional offices on the eastern border of the region have been constructed to shut out the din of sounds and smells as much as possible, with their front doors facing east toward Charlamaine Hill and their backdoors open to the Corridor.
There is constant movement in and out of the Corridor from Merchants coming to haggle over prices for goods and deliveries from the Waterfront & Docks. The marshland and towering western walls prevent access to this Corridor from the west or north, meaning that incoming goods must be transported through the Market. This can cause delays, delivery traffic jams, and portions of shipments suspiciously "falling off the cart" between the docks and their destination the Corridor.
